There is a technical term for this. It is called ‘State Capture’, ie interest groups obtain full control of govt. It happened in South Africa under Zuma, with disastrous consequences. I think journalists, policymakers and good govt types are struggling to understand DOGE because their mental model is that it is a government reform commission, operating like previous ones. Maybe. But it might be better to start thinking about it as a hostile takeover of the govt by oligarchs.

So 24 hours in and Musk is threatening to sue Meta over unlawfully misappropriated trade secrets. He goes on to say Meta had poached Twitter staff. Presumably some of the 80% he fired for being useless. Does this mean the cage fight is off?🤷♀️
