This story on Princeton first-year Sarah Lessig by my @theixbasketball.bsky.social colleague @rowanschaberg.bsky.social is worth your time. Lessig's path shows you don't have to spend a ton of money on travel basketball, or even specialize in the sport, to find a fit at the college level.
theixbasketball.bsky.social
Princeton forward Sarah Lessig didn't play much travel basketball growing up in Seattle. Yet she was a multisport star, amassing Division I offers in basketball, softball and flag football. Our @rowanschaberg.bsky.social explains how Lessig's "kind of weird" path led to the Tigers. #NCAAWBB

Sarah Lessig took "kind of a weird route" to college basketball and to Princeton. For one thing, she barely played travel basketball.

This story has been a long time coming. Like so many others, I’ve been deeply inspired by Sarah’s journey and can’t wait for the rest of the world to see her the way we Seattleites do. Thank you to everyone who made this piece possible!🫶

The Storm is officially on the clock! Final thoughts: I will be shocked if Seattle doesn’t take Dominique Malonga. Seattle loves a good international pick (think Jackson, Magbegor, etc.) and a previous connection with current players (Gabby Williams France connection). Seems like the perfect fit!

Learning more about Clarice Akunwafo’s passion for her craft(s) and dedication to bettering the lives of others was truly inspiring. So grateful for the opportunity to share her story!

USC center Clarice Akunwafo's basketball career ended with a loss to UConn in the Elite Eight. But her career in medicine is just beginning. Our @rowanschaberg.bsky.social talked to Akunwafo during the NCAA Tournament about how she juggled everything.

Update on this story from earlier this week: Ayoka Lee announced yesterday that she will not be entering the WNBA Draft or continuing her basketball career. Now, we wait until April 14th to find out if Serena Sundell will be selected by a WNBA team. Congrats on an incredible career, Ayoka!

This press conference really put a bow on an incredible Husky season. Covering this team, I was so impressed to see the genuine mutual love and respect between the players and the coaching staff. Langley has built a really special program in Seattle that she should be proud of.

"These are my sisters for life. We talk so much about focusing on the journey... These relationships are gonna last forever, I've learned so many valuable things. Coach Langley is an amazing woman."

UW women's basketball's Dalayah Daniels very emotional in this postgame presser.
