A while ago, I was part of an organization where one of the retired founders would come in occasionally to share his wisdom. When he spoke, he invoked nostalgia so effectively that people felt emotionally transported back decades to a time that felt familiar and safe.

We must ascend past mere pragmatism and find a morally aspirational vision of our shared humanity powerful enough to lift us beyond the culture of fear and nihilistic cynicism that is currently killing us.

American Tech CEOs think the real fascism is any government regulation that limits their profits in any way in order to protect ordinary citizens rights, privacy, or jobs.
They are ok with actual fascism for their customers and workers as long as they can continued make profit.

Fascism has a squishy meaning. It’s been used to mean anything politically “bad” from empathy to feminism to police state violence. In Germany people think Hitler but in the US - we don’t have a fascist “ikon”
