By expanding the offer to non-elite schools they made it MUCH easier for elite schools to say no. If they aren’t gonna get special treatment, why is any Ivy or “elite” institution going to participate in something where the hoi polloi get in? The idea is antithetical!

Gays cannot change their sexual orientation any more than straight people could go through therapy to become gay. And the forced effort to change leaves LGBT kids traumatized and increases suicide rates among LGBT youth.

This part 👆🏾!! This is the key point. “The right to live in a factual reality”—that Republicans (or Trumpists) fail to recognize this, or the danger of failing to support this right, is the primary rupture with Democrats (or non-Trumpists). It is a reprise of “the reality-based community.”

Six federal circuits—the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th—all agree that the First Amendment protects the right to record police performing their duties in public.

Taught my students last week that they have a First Amendment right to record in Pennsylvania. So do folks in Chicago and Portland.
