🤓: Sharing snippets from my next book in progress, hope it’s something you’ll be into when it’s said and done 👀…And yes, still here clacking away at the keyboard, so stay with me, because I haven’t given up on author life! (just haven’t figured out how to be in two places at once 🫠💻..)

I haven’t been able to do my usual amount of holiday baking the last two years, but whenever I do, it makes me happy to see the simple joy it brings, including this morning, when the office crew annihilated these cookies 😅 (chocolate chip with shortbread baked into them—all from scratch!)

Hey Toronto: this display at Chapters Woodbridge is to let you know I’ll be signing copies of my books on Feb. 8, 2025! 🤩 Will I see you there to chat travel tips/pasta recipes/sign copies for you—OR your friends if you’ve already read them? Hope so! 😉 (Will remind you closer to the date 🗓️ )

One cool thing I routinely forget about being an author is that WE become the gift idea, the stocking stuffer, or in this case, the Cyber Monday deal. Check it out, Canada, not just for the book lover in your life, but the foodie, too (i.e. lemon pesto pasta recipe included🍝🤤).. shorturl.at/yhdxm

Took a day off from work, told no one, and I WROTE; intense, in-the-zone word count THE WAY THE WRITING GODS INTENDED. Now, did I get distracted after hearing some more tough news on the family front? Yes. But I meditated, and wrote again. A.k.a. she persisted, one sentence at a time ✊🏽… #WriteSky

Thanksgiving was 6 wks ago in Canada, so on this weeknight, spending this brief moment of quiet reminding myself that art created during rough times is all the better for it—proven to be true for my past books, hopefully true on this one, each sentence grinded into being, page after page ✨ #WriteSky

Sometimes you get a 25-min slot to write & you write 300 words, & that’s all the time you’ll get for the day. But that’s 300 more words than you had yesterday. Anyway, was trying to say I wrote 300 words in 25min, & now I gotta stop for the day, but damn, it felt good for those 25min! 🥹🥲 #WriteSky

Normalize not sending a slew of Teams messages during lunch. Until then, I guess I’ll just normalize ignoring them.

How are things going here, writer folks? Haven’t had the occasion to post a lot to build a following (or does this app even reward that?), but I do like it, it seems fun, & maybe one day, more writers will find this author gal (I’m not important enough to be on anyone’s “starter packs” right now… 😅)

You can feed the cycle of derivative writing (next stop: AI), or you can break the cycle. Unrelated (or related?): Pluto re-enters Aquarius today, breaking a 16-year cycle of corporate dominance, corruption, and rigid traditions. Do with that what you will… #writesky #planetarymovements

This year, I had to listen to some writers say “AI helped me flesh out my plot…ChatGPT helped me outline!” Well, I think it’s now clear that what’s aiding you today, is being trained to bury you tmrw. But get paid to help dig your own grave! 😃🤦🏻‍♀️ www.publishersweekly.com/pw/newsbrief... #writesky

Got about 1,000 words written today in those little cracks of free time. I’ll take it, because that’s how this book is going to get done—scrappy, bit by bit, Thomas the Tank “little-engine-that-could” type shit 🚂 ✊🏽… #writesky

Got to write a bit after work, and it felt great 🥹. Just gotta keep building this story bit by bit. So, if you think you’d enjoy this upmarket romance that explores the “what if” of waking up in a world where rom coms, Shakespeare, and the Renaissance itself never existed, stay tuned 👀 … #booksky

All I want for Christmas is quiet time b/w the holiday and new year’s to write; to prioritize word count over social hangouts, to read a great book when I need inspiration, & to cozy up with liters of tea, vs. the liters of alcohol I’ll be having until then 😂. Dare to dream… ✨ #Writesky #writing

Tips (for me/you) to stop day job from seeping into writing process: don’t check Outlook/Teams early AM for “a head start.” Get ahead on the next chapter instead. Don’t need a smoke break? Take a day dream break. Can’t write during lunch on office days? Read for 15 min to get inspired. Good luck ✨
