I won't be doing streaming for a bit, mom's blood pressure shot up 2 days ago and while she's a bit more stable, she's rather weak from it, so I'm taking care of both my parents and the house in the meantime.

It's crazy to think this is the 8th Spark power up fanart I've made!

Magic Jester is not as powerful as the others but the fact it can do a laser attack gave me some cool ideas!

So, Magic Jester in the game doesn't really do too much, but then upon seeing gameplay of the laser bhean, I knew I had to do one where he's charging the attack! Even with the pixel sprites, I like how intense Spark looks when fighting, so I was hoping to reflect that here! I've been mostly using screenshots from the game itself to work out the backgrounds, and it's been quite the learning experience! Since the game doesn't have much art of the power ups I've been improvising a lot of the details and, it's made making these even more fun, focusing on my own artstyle instead of adapting official ones has been liberating, specially for this project! Just two more Jester forms to make, and I'll be done with the first game's power ups! But it's not the end of my Jester collection! I plan to do something fun with the second and third game! I hope y'all like this!

I gotta say, I'm having the time of my life working on this little fanart project, Spark reflects a ton of personality with each form! Case in point: The Edgy Jester! Since some of the game levels involve a bit of dynamic lighting, and the Edgy Jester form already looks and moves like a ninja, I thought it'd be cool to put Spark in a dark scene, make it look like he's infiltrating and is about to attack! Gave me a neat excuse to practice particle effects and ambience lights, I also love how his expression changes depending on the power up, true to his TV host lore, he really takes in the persona of the costume he wears! I am quite happy with how this is turning out!

As these power ups continue to show Spark doing different combat oriented things, I came to realize I really needed to start spicing up the poses! His crossbow in the game is so large that it covers most of his sprite, so for the sake of this pic, I shrunk it down just a teeny tiny bit, make it fit with the pose! I wanted Spark to look like either he just dodged an enemy attack or that he saw a threat and went into aiming position, and ofc with the serious fight face! Since this was another case where the main sprite covers too many details, I thought it'd be fun to get a bit more creative, namely with the scarf, since the Archer Jester form gives him a very Robin hood-ish look, feather included! The stages in the game continue to be a fantastic gold mine for backgrounds, this one was a ton of fun! I'd say so far taking up this project has been one of the more fun artistic decisions I made, I hope y'all are enjoying it as much as I am in making them!

In one of the stages, Spark goes through an area that includes train tracks, meaning every now and then a train will speed by, potentially dealing damage to Spark and enemies alike if you don't get out of the way. So I thought, why not make a more action-ish scene where Knight Jester Spark is on top of the train about to fight? It's seriously sad how little fanart there is of this game trilogy, I ended up improvising what little detais I noticed on sprites and backgrounds from gameplay screenshots. Tho it came with the fun side effect of letting me improvise and adapt it to my artstyle! It's still crazy there are more power ups left, and you can bet I'm gonna make fanart of them! I want to contribute in giving Spark some much needed attention!

Considering how the name speaks for itself, I gave Spark a more magical girl kinda pose. In th game you can get this power up during a space themed level so I thought, why not take the star bit to its fullest and have him in orbit, summoning a star shower? The best part of making something in space means I got a chance to play around with the lights, space is dark so it only makes sense Spark would get to emit light from his staff! I don't know what the formie planet looks like, so I improvised a blue earth-ish sith some landmass and clouds and... I'm happy with the results! Best part in all of this is I'm not halfway through the power up list! I think this is the first time I'm having true art brainrot for a game... It feels funny, and neat!

With the Fire Jester power up, Spark gains fire based punches and kicks, then tops it off by breathing fire into his enemies, so that inspired me for this art! Spark looking al angry breathing fire! I haven't done fire effects in a while, so this became a great opportunity to do it again! I thought it'd look more awesome if the flame itself looked slightly transparent and fully forming just outside of Spark's breath, to signify how flaming hot it is! and of course, a slight transparency effect! Since this was one of the simpler poses, I thought it'd work out if I adapted the game's level background a bit, Spark's world is so unique and creative, I'm definitely gonna keep using game screenshots for the background in the future!

From the first game alone, Spark has a crazy number of power ups, for me as a fan of the game, is a goldmine for inspiration to make more fanart, since again, I don't see much being made. So this time I decided to make one for the Sky Jester power up! Soaring through the sky! I wanted to challenge myself a bit and see how I could pull off the freedom of flying sky high with a mostly white pallette, so I thought it'd be cool if he was above the clouds, and also left a small trail to indicate he passed through them! I'm still not too good at motion so instead I wanted to use the power up's quirks to bring in that effect, whenever you fly with Sky Jester, he leaves a small trail of feathers behind, so here it does look like he came from a distance. I'd say I'm pretty happy with the results! You can bet I have more Jester art in me, this is only the beginning!

Spark the Electric Jester is a franchise I feel deserves a lot more attention, I'm actually surprised there's not that much fanart of him despite being 3 games in, and the power ups alone being a goldmine for art. In my case? I was looking at his power ups to see what to make my first fanart on, and of course, the Gravity Jester inmediatley caught my eye, it seems like each power up affects Spark's personality. So when he's in Gravity Jester form he seems... "Reaxed" like, he enjoys being "high up", his idle pose even has him leaning back and relaxing, so of course I wanted to give that pose a go, lol. Also gave me an excuse to do more background practice! You can bet I'm going to be making more fanart, those designs are begging to be drawn! (and that's before going into Fark) I still need to play the second and third game...
