It's almost 6PM (PST) according to the inferior old clock, but if you're switching over to my son's new & improved one, it will be 1PM - 12 hours of night begin here. The new day will start at the new 1AM (previously knows as 6AM.) And yes, as you intuited, AM/PM switch over at 1 now, not 12.
Over breakfast helped the 15 yr old iron out his plan for fixing the clock. Simply rotate the clock face back 1 hour and adjust the time back 5. The day/AM hours now start not at 12 but at 1 (previously known as 6) which also corresponds (approximately) to sunrise and pm starts at (about) sunset.

WAKE UP DEAD MAN (projected in a theater with a glass of wine because we're fancy) was comically impossible to solve, filled with great character bits and (not that I know anything about the state of Catholicism) a nuanced back and forth about the place of faith and religion in 21st Century America.
