Something for #PortfolioDay... I mostly do space #SciArt. Here is my digital drawing of the Rosette Nebula, a large star-forming region which is about 5000 light-years away. 🔭

Work in industry: data science and analytics. While still doing astro science and science art, as hobby.

Yes, it's next on my list to try out :)

Thanks. I used those watercolours in tubes, and just didn't add much water to it; looked more like gouache paste.

The Pleiades, open star cluster. Inspired by The Starry Night, and painted with watercolor on paper.

The Pleiades, open star cluster, painted with thick watercolour on paper. Style is inspired by The Starry Night - thick short dashed brushstrokes twirling around. Bright white stars with a dash of yellow; surrounding is dominated with bright blue colour which fades outward to black.

Digital drawing of a neutron star. Happy #NeutronStarWeek!

Digital drawing in Procreate of a neutron star. Lines looping around the star show its strong magnetic field, while beams of radiation are being blasted out into space from north and south pole.

Amazing! I can see starry night sky using 2nd and 3rd row colors :)

They all look amazing! Picking one: Orion Nebula :)

And yes, all other planets also vary in distance as their orbits are elliptical, and also because Earth is moving too, so their mutual distances is constantly changing. But, because large distances we will never have e.g. Saturn closer than Jupiter.

Thanks! :)
One influence would be on tidal force that Earth experiences however, tidal force comes in majority from Moon and then a bit from the Sun. Even when Mercury is closest it would have very little contribution to tides (and lesser than Venus due to it's mass).

Tomorrow Mercury becomes closest planet to Earth and remains closest until 31st July 2026. I drawn Solar System bodies in Procreate. Distances can be explored in my Streamlit App: solar-system-distances.streamlit.app ps. there will be days in 2027 when Mars is the closest planet to Earth #SciArt 🧪 🔭
Screenshot of Streamlit web application "Distances in Solar System". Seeing distances from Earth to the Moon, Venus, Mercury, Sun and Mars for 28th June, and then below it for 29th June when Mercury becomes closest planet to the Earth, and remains closest for the rest of this year. Solar System bodies are illustrated in Procreate. Streamlit App: https://solar-system-distances.streamlit.app

Have fun on the workshop!

- just FYI, your UTM parameters on this link and others on your profile have wrong source e.g. 'facebook' while you are posting on 'bluesky'... Obviously link works, but you wont be able to properly attribute contribution of bluesky to registrations... :)

There is only one feeling about generated theft. Not good at all. Can you please delete your reply, and consider not supporting theft?

Thanks. It's hand drawn on iPad in drawing app called Procreate. There are drawn layers on top of each other (different colors) and between them there are 'dark duplicates' with blurred edges, so when they get stacked on top of each other they give impression of depth.
