Also: not anywhere is there any independent assessment of SNAP fraud alleged here by a spokesperson to be “rampant."
the article has descriptions of how it “can” occur, quotes claims about how many deceased people were receiving benefits.
whatever happened to “get both sides of the story”?

i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.

California’s new filing marks the second time the state has asked a federal court to block Trump’s Los Angeles deployment, which the president initiated through an early June memo in response to protests against his aggressive immigration raids throughout the city.

Just an incalculable loss from which we won’t soon recover.

Alice was the best of us and I hope we all do (or keep doing) the kind of good work that burnishes her memory.

Also, I want to note that a White Democrat saying the party "got sucked into a conversation about identity" while the Right is attempting/succeeding in a White nationalist project in full view of everyone is fairly emblematic of why things seem so bleak in the US right now
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25

I'm reading the "housing growth" bill passed in a special session without public hearing. There are key aspects of neoliberal deregulation of land redevelopment similar to charter school concept. Here is a buried "priority housing development zone." This isn't about housing or affordability. (p. 37)
