Hello #portfolioday

I’m Robbie, Illustrator from Scotland who loves storytelling, nature and all that intertwined with a little fantasy-whimsy! Currently I’m looking for work within illustration/book spaces. I also have experiences working for animation/games.

Hope you like my work ✨⚔️🌳
An illustration of an artist’s cartoony interpretation of what it would look like within Bilbo Baggin’s Hobbit hole. We see the evening sun lighting up the warm and cosy hovel which is full of items from Bilbo’s adventures. Maps are sprawled across tables amongst pots of tea and slices of pie, shelves are piled with all-sorts and bits and bobs. Books lay on floors gathering dust and if we look closely there’s a block of cheese left out for a friendly mouse. There is also a room in the back which is the kitchen, full of chunky wooden furniture covered in all types of kitchenware. It’s a messy but cosy lifestyle for mr Bilbo. The illustration is decorated with a border which shows the exterior of Bag End and the hills around it! A pencil drawing of a little gnome taking a nap up against the trunk of a large tree with multiple trunks reaching out like a spreader hand. He nestles his small self amongst the plants and mosses, finding comfort, slowly nodding off to the sounds of warblers chirping above him. The pencil drawing has a digital border of green colours featuring different types of tree leaves and seeds. A crop of a pencil illustration showing a wolf character with a torch in hands lighting the path before him. There is a tree to his left curling its branches around him and framing the picture. Within its hollow are 2 bright white glowing eyes that seek startled by the commotion on its doorstep. Beyond the wolf and down a valley we see what looks to be some type of crumbling structure beyond. Maybe that’s their destination! A watercolour plein air study of a pinewood with various types of pines, from saplings to full grown. Resting with his back against the trunk is a rabbit soldier named Preswick Hopperfoot. He sits and ponders with pipe in hand as the sun begins to set and its warmth with it. He’s about to begin his shift into the long night as a member of the Warrenguard.

Hello #PortfolioDay

I’m Robbie, an illustrator and artist for animation from Bonnie Scotland! I love whimsical worlds, weird fantasy and drawing a good tree!🌲🌳

Currently looking for work in book illustration, ttrpg/tcg spaces or any other fun illustrating projects!✨
Pencil illustration depicting the 4 hobbits of the lord of the rings as wondering and lost rabbits following a wolf character they currently know as strider as he leads them to the tower of Amon Sul. A watercolour painting study of a large spruce tree, perched up against the very tree that was painted Digital painting of Bilbo’s Hobbit Hole, Bagend. The sunsetting light glows into the interior from the large bay window, warming all the trinkets that lay around messily. There are maps spread across a large table next to a still hot teapot and mostly eaten cherry pie. The more you look the more you see many little Easter eggs from tolkiens story hidden around Bilbo’s home. A pencil illustration of a sleepy gnome laying up against the stump of a large and over grown tree. A perfect spot for a nap, before or after a long journey. Or just if you fancy a quiet kip in nature!

An illustration of mother Goethel, the witch from Rapunzel. She stands in the center, surrounded by thorny bushes and between two crooked trees, holding a baby wrapped in luminous white cloth and her eyes glowing a malicious golden color. In the foreground we see rampions growing from golden vines which intertwine like braids; in the background, in the distance and in the middle of a forest, we see a lone tower a red squirrel knight, with body armor and a cape, holding a lance in one hand and standing on its hind legs, with a golden halo aroung its upper torso and head. the beast (from beauty and the beast), appearing in the middle of a dense rose-bush foliage, gently holding a tiny bird in its huge paws and looking at it with tenderness. the castle tower can be seen in the distance. toe-thrasher, a rat lord wearing a royal mantle made of white fur, thrashing in the middle of a swamp in its hind legs and holding a black flail. in the swamp, there are numerous yellow eyes

Inktober, Day 13, "Drink": I've a busy day today, so here's a favorite from 2017 of a house brownie, Fig Pinkmoon, watching me draw over afternoon tea.(He doesn't like having his portrait drawn).🫖

Nearing the end of Mythago Wood and couldn’t help but think this mythological character is rifted off of Tolkien’s Cirdan in some ways.

Spoilers at your own risk!

Some ink wash and water colour time!

Black ink fountain pen drawing of a strange forest creature who is cloaked by a gathering of twig, leaf and general forest mulch. This mysterious figure is weaving together different types of plants to create something. She looks in deep concentration as the forest around her is shaking to the winds breeze that whistles through its very hollows.

The old mouse fort. Hidden deep in the tangle in case of emergencies - like now. Watercolour. Work continues on the new Gwelf project, The Haunted Garden. More soon.

Haha this sci-fi set has also been surprisingly inspiring for me too! Not so much in art making but I am currently making some decks that are very thematic around the set which is always the best sort of deck building (imo). Love it when a deck tells a story

Almost finished the pencils for the second of my inktobish drawings.

Channeling a mystical, wonky and weird tree-filled Arthur Rakham style for this one :)

#inktober2025 - Moustache Merlin ✨

Please find and enjoy a little story excerpt in the alt text that goes along with it! Cheers :)

Drawn with Sailor Fude De Mannen fountain pen 🖋️
Look here I say boy, it takes a lot to be me!
I think all day and I think when I sleep!

Let’s see, what do you think when you think of a tree? It should be wisdom I would think and becoming with that thought what is it that you see?

Well you’d think you just see a tree but it is also me! My moustache grows like the oak and bush and the birds and the bees nest within it. Longer and itchier it becomes as the sea gets deeper and dirtier!

Astounded you are yes I see it, I SEE!

You’d love for me to go on but I cannot think of this no more, on with you now, tick-tock there’s the door!

Yup, it was really noticeable within my hometown. All of a sudden you’d see all the teenagers going down the town on their school lunches looking like wee English gangsters! The flock like sheep to the oddest of trends haha

I know within the uk it was popularised by the Peaky Blinders tv show!

This sounds like a genuine nightmare 🫠
