Was waiting for my tax lady this morning to sign some slip that confirms I'm not a terrorist or a money launderer, and witnessed a turf war between a coalition of seagulls and crows vs pigeons. The pigeons won surprisingly.

Godot community! I spent a week writing proposals for features I'd've loved as part of Godot during our 1,5yrs of working on our multi-platform, multi-input, localized game Rift Riff.

Thread with all my suggestions below 🧵👇🏼.

as far as worst case Affinity scenarios could go, this is not a terrible outcome. Core functionality is entirely free, while only AI services are paid. We'll see if/when enshitification kicks in a few years down the road. Until then, it's functional.

GDSync is about 60% cheaper than Unity's own multiplayer services and Photon for 1-4 player coop games at any scale. Certainly a thing to consider.

After nearly quitting watching any kind of TV due to rehashed ideas ad infinitum, here comes a piece of media that will stay with me for a long time. To think it was nearly lost to c-suites writing down season 2 as tax losses. We have a leech problem. www.netflix.com/title/81937398

Ain't no way I'm migrating to OpenAI's data mining browser. I'll stick with the data miner I know, who already knows me so well and sells pieces of me to the highest bidder.

Finally dug up something worth watching on Netflix. Pantheon (2022) is so incredibly un unexpectedly good! And somewhat topical with all the AGI/ASI talk going on right now.

Relax, it’s not a bubble. It’s synergy laundering.
Another depiction if the circularity of capital flows between OpenAI, Microsoft, Nvidia, CoreWeave, AMD, and Oracle.

updated all Affinity apps in case of worst-case scenario. Not that it'll help long term if they kill license authentication servers down the road.

Look, it’s really straightforward to get a publisher as a new name indie in 2025. Simply do 95% of the work making and marketing your game, and if your metrics are trending towards almost certain success, a publisher will swoop in to promise the remaining 5%, deliver 3%, and collect 75%

Every time I want to pick up Godot again -> I wonder if the engine supports that feature X I need -> blocker on Godot's end -> Proposal submitted 2-4 years ago -> PR that addresses this refused recently with no resolution.

I'll check back in a few months, like I always do.

Somehow I doubt Saudis will continue to fund same sex alien loving single player RPGs but ya never know...
Reddit randomly recommended me Mass Effect subreddit's discussion on Tali's/Quarian face reveal. The biggest gaming fumble of 2010s in my books together with the original RGB ending. How I wish this universe could get a BG3 treatment instead of capital pushing out rushed games.

Looks like Unity Newtonsoft JSON package was last updated in 2023 and their own Serialization package hasn't been touched this year. No more serialization folks left at Unity?

Arc Raiders is pretty dope as a solo experience. I hadn't felt such tension in a video game in years. Supreme audio design too, really adds to the experience.

Can you even make a game like Black & White in 2025? I feel like that would invite animal abuse allegations.

They nuked #Affinity forums? What the hell? I thought people were getting all up in arms for nothing since the oct 30 announcement lacks details, but they've already done significant damage after the acquisition.
