Traditional media required economies of scale. You needed thousands, ideally millions of listeners to justify the cost of production. This created a shared culture, not because we all had the same taste, but because we were all choosing from the same limited menu.

Daughter tells me she’s been accepted on the MPhys for next year (Physics). Quite happy to fund that. Career will sort itself out. Education in something she loves is more important.

I wish this guy had taught me poetry at school. His explanation of iambic pentameter and its importance was got over Ina about three sentences and made perfect sense. At school it took three years. #booksky
