Caveat, though this house may be full of weird shit that doesn’t mean any of it has anything to do with the plot. This gets rectified in the director’s next film to the other extreme by making the movie only about the weird shit. Somewhere in between is better, but I’m along for the ride until then.

The ‘sect sect has been around since at least the time of the hippies. Inducers of pure fear to prime individuals for specific purposes, some as face donors, others as bird fodder. A world where Lynchian is the way, where no choice needs to make sense, it just has to be as interesting as possible.

Black cat mansion has been cursed for some time, the origin of which is remembered in great detail down to how the cat consumed the owner’s mother’s vengeful blood. My post-AI memed brain kept imagining scenes here depicted in Miyazaki’s style. How many movie characters have truly cared about a cat?

The well must be drawn from as certainly as our young imported art restorer must make haste on a large painting fully blackened from fire damage. Successfully walks in the shoes of a number of films I’ve watched recently that couldn’t resist crossing my acceptability lines. Such a me-coded feature.

Incident in a Ghostland is hard to recommend based on the content of its abuse depictions. Most is implied offscreen, 100% should have been. Surrounding the twisted metal is incredible set dressing, lighting, and photography. Usually, a movie tackling these kinds of deeds doesn’t look this lush.
