I see three circles on anything... It’s Mickey Mouse. It can’t be anything else. Not the dimpled eyes of a coconut. Not the holes in a bowling ball. Not even the nest entries of the humble dirt dobber. It’s always Mickey Mouse. Three circles is Mickey and we ALL love him.

Idk. Disney’s existence on kid’s backpacks, product collaborations, commercials, and even saturation with my own generation’s conversations in public spaces like work feel like one huge perpetual advertisement for the same stuff that has not stopped since I was born. And it’s “our culture”.

Kids need to develop attachments to a specifically weird movie left around by their parents - like an old VHS excavated from a dilapidated dust pile. That weird movie needs to become their whole personality instead of spiderman. Consider the 1982 cult classic “The Thing”.

A humble, maybe unpopular dream I have is that kids will one day have a childhood that involves nothing Disney.

No more “what is your favorite Disney movie” no more “who is your favorite princess / hero / villain” and no defaulting to Disney = great for kids so my kid HAS to engage with it.

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.
