This is fun, thanks for posting!
Do you use the hardware cloth (metal mesh currently on top of bed) at base of your raised beds, to keep moles out? It also lets roots grow deeply into native soil.
Another tip I hear is to line the sides of the bed with black plastic, to prevent rot…next time mine need rebuilding!
Yes—when I think of it, lukewarm water seems better in cool weather (like patio plants at end of season, or for seedlings you are growing before transplanting). Houseplants probably the same. Granulated plant food would also dissolve better in water that’s not too cold.
If you can find some of these puppies next year (or stash some) wonderful Jack-in-the-beanstalk results in short season PNW and probably up there! I think High Mowing seeds, Fedco and Terretorial seeds may have them too (All U.Sl seed companies) www.johnnyseeds.com/vegetables/b...

Would be interesting to witness a stare down between this bird and our red-eyed spotted towhee!
Those shiny feathers reflect the (blue) sky, how appropriate!

Many RIFed yesterday are now being unfired(?!)

Unclear if it’s evil or incompetence — but either way, calculated move. Meant to flex power.

Ha. Just shows Republicans are scared.

Dems, @schumer.senate.gov — don’t back down.
They know they’re losing the Republican shutdown shitshow.
We’re winning.
Official HHS memo showing someone RIFed yesterday is, um, no longer RIFed. wtf
Walmart has always had lots of employees on food stamps, too.
In Oregon, shop at Winco instead—employee owned, discount prices on name brands and there’s even a pension. Win-win-win(co!).

A lot of Idahoans on Medicaid expansion work for big businesses, and even public colleges and government entities.

Walmart, one of the biggest private business in Idaho, had the most employees on the public assistance program. #idleg #idpol
Where do people on Idaho Medicaid expansion work? A lot of big companies. • Idaho Capital Sun
Hundreds of Idaho employees for major companies, colleges and governments are on Medicaid expansion, new state report shows.

This represents the fleece of how many sheep?
Yes, but don’t call it rogue! Those who truly care (NW and NE states especially) are joining forces to keep their citizens informed on infectious disease and other aspects of public health, despite the attempt to destroy federal public health. This is truly public service and to be applauded.
And this does not capture the effects of people working with long Covid, driving with Covid cognitive problems, and the effects on inflation from workers who are less productive.
Becoming Katherine Graham is on Passport (PBS streaming app). Then watch The Post (Movie). Then drop WaPo which is now utterly nothing like it once was. Then go volunteer for your local PBS station or at least support it generously.

When you follow a leader, consider what would lead you to withdraw your support.

If the answer is nothing, your integrity is in jeopardy. Our highest loyalty belongs to principles, not people.

No leader deserves unconditional love. Commitment is earned through character.

Here's a set of that Red-tailed Hawk in flight as it flushed from it's perch. I think this was a male as it seemed lean and smallish.
Beautiful bird.

Red-tailed Hawk in flight with it's wings up, head and body horizontal and showing it's talons clearly. Red-tailed Hawk in flight with it's wings down. Red-tailed Hawk in flight with it's wings in a big down stroke. Red-tailed Hawk in flight with it's wings up and a very determined look on it's face.
You can just feel the bird’s flight from these pics, wonderful!

We’re seeing gobs of berries, rose hips etc. Wooly Bears aren’t too wooly (maybe a milder temp winter?). Trees just starting to turn. Lots of wood ducks coalescing at local pond. Fall is the forecast for winter, if you can read the signs.
We don’t need updated everything every 12 seconds.
My phone has some stupid update with more unicorns and rainbows or magic emoticons or other crap, version 2 million or something and I have what I need already.
Repeat after me: I have what I need….already.
