idk if it was a writer thing or a jacob thing to have him shushing his victims, but it is SAURRR perfect for louis' character. he wants to *come off* as having more empathy for humans than he actually does. the 'shh' is outwardly gentle but actually means 'stfu i'm gonna kill u now.' delicious

I saw Lestat brushing cocaine powder all over ... Bruce's? ... face in the teaser. And it made me think of a much more wholesome scenario because of who I am as a person. I decided to put this in my "long face" series because, based on what we know of Season 3 so far, absolutely nothing I've written there will be even close to canon compliant, so might as well lean into the fun! Plus, in the last installment I have Louis wearing a lovely Caudry lace feminine robe which leans into my little headcanon that he plays a little more with "traditional" gender presentation around makeup and clothes in the modern day. All that aside, this is just super self-indulgent. Hope you like it.

To Me, the show is not trying to moralize any actions of any of the characters, really. rather, i think it asks: if u live forever, and have a chance to truly repent, beyond human limits, will you? on the other hand, can you have the capacity to *forgive* beyond human limits?

lestat is indefensible here, even with his POV of the fight that we get a season later. and he knows it. the writers are VERY clear about it. we'll no doubt see cycles of abuse play out in s3 which will not excuse what he did here, but provide context for it.

this is so viscerally painful to watch every time and i can understand why people resented the writing choice. having seen it enough times now and read thinkpieces esp from Black viewers it makes sense. roots the story in its monstrosity, and starkly reminds the viewer of the power imbalance.

louis' sense of protection over claudia like...Makes Sense but is also indicative of his emotional codependence with her AND his inability to see her as her own person sometimes. those pages are removed to "protect" her but that denies her agency
