I've just given the genie a stackoverflow link to help it solve a problem.. fingers crossed..

shit the genie says, that proves it has been trained on 'people':
"The build failed so I couldn't verify the test was red, but we know the test would fail anyway, so lets just carry on with the implementation.."

No, guess-bot. That's not how that works at all.

Enjoying the vibe coding experience. I’ve avoided it for a long time.. but I had a problem I needed to solve and an iOS app felt like the right solution. I’ve never written a line of swift in my life! Yet, here I am, two days of on and off prompting, with a fully functioning app 😱

Let's be clear. These companies aren't "investing in the UK". They're investing in themselves, and we've seen how that usually works out for the UK over the last few decades. They're coming here to extract, not invest.

hot take: if you have a 'quality process', you have a problem. Because you're treating quality as a separate thing to your software development process.

I'm delighted to host my favourite conference - CITCON - on the 26th and 27th of September 2025 at work (IDBS) near London (Woking). It's free, it's open space and, based on past events, an all round delightful experience. Lots of people buzzing about continues improvement (and integration).
