No one person should decide when America goes to war.
So to be clear: the President is asking his own former employees, people with whom he has long and close relationships, to award him hundreds of millions of dollars. And that money would be paid by the American people.
Asked about it, Trump said: “I’m the one that makes the decision and that decision would have to go across my desk and it’s awfully strange to make a decision where I’m paying myself.” He’s literally bragging about deciding whether taxpayers should pay him.
The officials who would decide whether to approve Trump’s payout once served as his defense lawyers. They now hold top Justice Department roles that oversee settlements like this. That is a clear ethical conflict.
Trump is demanding $230 million from the Justice Department as “compensation” for federal investigations into him–including the Russia probe and the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case.

Trump filled the DOJ and FBI with loyalists willing to cast aside long-standing rules to serve his political agenda–erasing the line between law enforcement & political retribution. This is not how a healthy democracy works; for no one to be above the law, we need an independent Justice Department.
At Trump’s urging, the DOJ has already brought indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York AG Letitia James–cases even Trump-appointed prosecutors said lacked evidence. Once is an accident. Twice is a pattern.
The nation’s top law-enforcement officials stood at his side in a silent show of unity. How do they expect us to believe their investigations and prosecutions are independent of the White House’s political vendettas?
In the Oval Office, Trump named three people he wants targeted for prosecution: Special Counsel Jack Smith, former FBI official Andrew Weissmann, and Deputy AG Lisa Monaco–who were just doing their jobs investigating his alleged corruption.

When journalists from across the political spectrum refuse to bow to government pressure, they’re defending something much bigger than access: the people’s right to know what their government is doing.
Reuters said it “steadfastly believes in press protections afforded by the U.S. Constitution.” The Times added that with taxpayers funding nearly $1 trillion a year for the military, the public has a right to know how that money is being used.
The Pentagon’s new rules would bar journalists from most of the building without escorts and let officials revoke access for reporters who seek unapproved information–even if it isn’t classified. News outlets call that an unconstitutional attempt to control coverage.
In a rare show of unity, Fox News, The New York Times, AP, Reuters, Newsmax, and others are refusing to sign new Pentagon rules that would restrict how they report on the military. They say the policy threatens First Amendment protections for routine journalism. www.reuters.com/business/med...
US news outlets reject Pentagon press access policy
At least 20 news organizations declined to sign a new Pentagon access policy for journalists, warning of the potential for less comprehensive coverage of the world’s most powerful military ahead of a Tuesday deadline to accept new restrictions.

Meanwhile, CPAC operatives who help run Trump’s political network were being paid by the Argentine government as lobbyists during the bailout talks. So while Americans face rising prices at home, Trump’s Treasury is using our tax dollars to bail out billionaires and foreign politicians.
The $20 billion bailout stabilized Argentina’s currency and shored up Milei politically–and Citrone’s bets paid off. Days before the announcement, he bought more Argentine bonds. The move has already boosted the value of his investments.
Citrone had heavily invested in Argentina under Pres. Javier Milei–buying bonds and equities tied to the nation’s economy. When Milei’s austerity plan collapsed and panic hit the peso, Citrone stood to lose–until Bessent and Trump stepped in with a rescue package.
The Trump admin recently approved a $20 billion bailout for Argentina–a deal that benefits one American more than anyone else: billionaire hedge-fund manager Rob Citrone. Who happens to be a longtime friend and former colleague of Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent.

Congress has the duty and authority to exert oversight over DOJ. With Bondi's agency ramping up politicized prosecutions, we need to put pressure on Congress to do its job, ask the tough Qs, demand accountability: act.represent.us/letter/bondi...

Congress doesn’t work for the president, it works for the people.
Donald Trump ran on a promise to help Americans’ wallets.

Nine months in, people are still struggling to make ends meet, while his wealth has skyrocketed.

Congress funds the DOJ and has a duty to provide oversight. They must act to ensure the law is applied fairly and not twisted into a weapon of revenge. The rule of law protects all of us, and it’s on the line right now. Tell Congress the DOJ is not a tool for revenge NOW!
