“Men who have no art at all, nothing but wealth— they pit us one against the other, for their gain not ours. We sell ‘em our power. Why do we?
If we went our own way together, we’d do better, maybe.”

- Ursula K. Le Guin, “The Finder”, Tales from Earthsea

I'm going to say what many are embarrassed to admit--providing masks is one of the kindest and considerate things an organization can do because many people genuinely cannot afford a box of masks.
Disability related conferences (or ANY conference) can easily do this, rather than coming up with so many excuses

Buy 1-2 boxes of masks for those who don’t have masks or forgot, or didn’t know, etc

Conferences that don’t try have shown what they REALLY think about disabled / immunocompromised ppl

“Today I learned about a term called a ‘glimmer’. Which is the opposite of a trigger. Glimmers are those moments in your day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace, or gratitude. Once you train your brain to be on the lookout for glimmers, these tiny moments will appear more and more.” #AltText

South Koreans held their government accountable earlier this year. And now they’re protesting for American’s rights and democracy on No Kings too!

Thank you South Korea! #NoKings ❌👑
My thoughts exactly
it is far better to be in a country with a mass visible protest movement than one without it

The High Seas Treaty has been ratified by 60 countries! This is about protecting oceans beyond the coastal zones controlled by single countries. There are still lots of steps between where we are and the future we dream of, but wow, this is a big one!

“Of course, writing novels about the future doesn’t give me any special ability to foretell the future. But it does encourage me to use our past and present behaviors as guides to the kind of world we seem to be creating” — Octavia Butler

I stopped calling Octavia butlers work prophetic once I realized she herself literally said that her work was influenced by deeply studying history which gave have her insight into the future. I realized I was watering down how truly brilliant she was and what she was trying to get across
