This wonderful book arrived in our Junior Library Guild box this month. I read it while checking kids’ books out, and i got a bit teary, as a dog mom. It is visually stunning!

One of my school librarian duties is printing posters for folks. Friday at 3, my art teacher sent me 39 posters that she wants printed (and probably laminated) for Monday display. (I print posters to prevent teachers accidentally printing to the poster printer.) I did not stay late on Friday.

I want to spend the rest of the school year putting up questionable #library displays. Like, all my monster/scary books. Actually now that I think about, I really like that idea - skip the “special month” and go for topics.

A 7th grader accosted me in the hallway yesterday, shoved a book in my face and demanded, “do we have more of these in the #library?” (Book was by Margaret Peterson Haddix, and yes, we do.)

I’m enjoying my quiet morning coffee, but I hear the sounds of possible destruction inside the house (60lb #Staffordshire unsupervised) & trying to decide whether or not to worry about it. Could be a toy, or the rug, or my briefcase, or my $130 Hokas.

At the end of the class yesterday, a new kindergarten student showed me his drawing, said “I like you,” and gave me a big hug. Great way to end the day.

We put a lot of the burden of students' success or failure on teachers. But it is important to remember that those teachers operate in an environment regulated from above. Subject leaders are key to buffering those inputs and help schools succeed. 🧪
