The Astronomy Lesson

Ice dreamt and undreamt,
Falls outside in lightless air,
Makes way in our homes,
From wishes in the minds
of children sleeping,
Who have bent the actual space,
That holds us in this world,

The day burns cold,
Snowless and yet plainly winter,
Routine just the same,
But with darkness, all is icier,
A record, burning skin,
on ungloved fingers,
Some fresh new category of cold,

In the warm and coloured light,
The edge of home and crystal,
I stand at a border post,
A guardian of chaotic physics,
Now in love with
moving heat exchange,
And new confederates in wanting,

The shine of distant eyes
in weightless torchlight,
The crackle of breathing out,
Made visible and cheerful,
A touch before the lesson ends,
And we are sweeping plurals,
Double stars in Celsius,

#Collage Welsh Incident

A surreal collage. At the bottom of the main image is a faded postcard of Criccieth in North Wales. Behind the hill on which the castle stands, there is an etching of Criccieth Castle and one of Harlech Castle. Between them is the image of the giant shoulders and head of a woman in 1930s bathing dress. She is smiling and has her right hand at her mouth and her left hand outstretched gingerly holding a starfish. Next to her is a simple black flying saucer. At the front of the postcard on the left is the image of a dour-looking man in clerical collar and anorak. Over him the words of the postcard are written - "Criccieth castle". On the right is the image of a man in suit and tie and a gold mayoral chain looking at the first man. Between them are a number of roughly-made red terracotta figures with two finger holes for eyes. In the top part of the picture on the right is an old yellowing map of North Wales while to the left is an image of rough seas rotated 90 degrees to the left. Over this is an engraving of a Kraken enveloping a sailing ship. Over this is another etching of an old idea of what a whale looked like. To the right over the map is the image of a crinoid, with a stalk which goes to the woman's mouth. The whole image is framed with yellowing paper and in the bottom section of the frame are the words 'I was coming to that'.

#Collage Alice.

A digital collage. At the bottom is a photograph of a downed Messerschmitt Bf 109 guarded by a British Soldier. This is pasted over a black-and-white photograph of the central part of the modern City of London which is in turn pasted over an old map of The City of London. Standing behind the plane but in front of the city is a colourised version of a Tenniel drawing of Alice from the Alice in Wonderland. She looks down with contempt at the plane. From her mouth comes a speech bubble in the style of an old cartoon by Thomas Rowlandson. This has the words "Not you again!" in handwritten lettering. The whole is pasted on a backing of slightly yellowed old paper.

#Collage Merchant Bankers

So Reform do not consider 100 fewer people injured as a successful result. I would consider a political decision to reverse the 20 mph policy as manslaughter by omission. Success for Reform is being allowed to drive your murder bot as fast as you want.
