I remember Shosei Okamoto being quite good for Kagoshima United in J3 & J2 in the past few seasons. Perhaps J1 was a step too high but also... he never got a chance did he? Bizarre when you think about Niigata's defense this season...

Tadahiro Akiba did an OK (but not great) job in my opinion. I think he's taken them as far as he could so it makes sense that S-Pulse want to use the 100 Year Vision League period to get a new manager and change things up.

I think your candidate pool is, more or less, Oliveira, Nishino, Oniki, Mischa, Moriyasu, Okada, and I think an argument could be made for Nelsinho Baptista as well.
Mischa has the fewest trophies, but at the same time I feel like he created such a strong culture...

The Emperor's Cup is supposed to be the premier domestic cup ⚽ competition in Japan and it's run sooo pooorlyyyy by the JFA

Oh i was discussing this with a colleague yesterday so nice to get some clarity (well, ok there are some weird permutations especially wrt to the. 100 Year Vision league lol)
The winner of today's Emperor's Cup final between Machida Zelvia and Vissel Kobe will get a spot in the 2026-27 ACL2.
UNLESS either of them win the 2025-26 ACLE or the 100 Year Vision League, both of which would offer them direct entry to the 2026-27 ACLE.
