Prosperous solutions to #ClimateChange exist and #Canada has everything we need to WIN the #EnergyTransition

The alternative is no alternative at all. #cdnpoli #MarkCarney #EnergyTransition
It saves a lot of setup headaches and potential troubleshooting, making the "just works" experience smoother, especially for newer users. It's about convenience and minimizing friction for pure gaming. (2/2)
You're absolutely right that the core Steam/Proton is distro-agnostic!

However, distros like Nobara (nobaraproject.org) go beyond decent by pre-integrating a ton of optimizations. Think kernel tweaks, codecs, WINE/Proton GE, GPU drivers, and controller support; all pre-configured on install. (1/2)
Y'know, a Fedora is lovely for this time of year. #FedoraProject
But let's be honest. Does CoD do anything but raise your blood pressure & make you a worse human being? Is the world really worse off without those hollow shells of their ancestral titles?

Look in your heart. You know the answer. It's time to let it go.

OK, real talk on Linux gaming.

Yes, almost your entire Steam library will run flawlessly, especially on a gaming-focused distro.

But... we have to talk about the elephant in the room. That big, kernel-level anti-cheat one.

Yeah, Call of Duty. It doesn't work. (1/2)

This is why on-premises hardware isn't "old tech."

When the cloud goes dark, your local file server and on-prem apps are still running. You have actual control.

Don't be 100% reliant. Be resilient. A smart hybrid strategy is the only way.

What a week. First the massive AWS outage, now Azure's global DNS and configuration failures.

It’s been a painful, global-scale lesson in a basic truth:

The cloud is just someone else's computer.

And you're not in the room when they push a bad config. (1/2)

(PS: Yes, we know we are repeating ourselves. Reposting to update for our new domain! Don't worry, we're not doing them all.)

You don't need to be the expert. That's our job. As your Calgary-based IT partner, we translate the jargon into action to keep your business safe.

Need a security check-up or have questions? Send us a DM! We're here to help.

Quick translation:

- CIA Triad: Not spies! It's Confidentiality (secrets), Integrity (accurate data), & Availability (access). The ABCs of data safety.
- OWASP Top 10: A "most wanted" list of security flaws for websites.
- SIEM: A central dashboard that watches all your other tech for trouble.
OWASP? CIA Triad? SIEM? If cybersecurity sounds like a foreign language, you're not alone. For small businesses, this jargon can be a huge barrier to getting proper protection. But the threats they describe are real. Let's translate. 🗣️ 🧵👇

"But what about my games!?" I hear you ask. And if you've missed the memo from the last few years: Proton. It's all about Proton now. @valvesoftware.com has paved the way for gaming on Linux. Yes, some AAA anti-cheats are still fussy, but it's a new world.

Sure, you have other options. You could pay Microsoft for pricey Extended Security Updates, or use services like 0patch.com to keep Win10 on life support for a fee. But with such great free alternatives out there, isn't it time to let go and move on?

Alas, Windows 10! We knew you well. And it seems we're not the only ones planning the funeral. LibreOffice's creators officially began urging users to switch to Linux before the Oct '25 support cutoff. www.theregister.com/2025/06/16/l...

Fair enough, not everyone's a fan. :) Though it is worth pointing out that it's an open source project, so while the Linux Foundation is backing it, it's not only them.
