Today was a first. 3.5 years into kiddo's T1D dx, we had a major pump malfunction that had him over 200 BG overnight and much of the day. No alerts, no warnings, just our knowledge that this was completely abnormal.

Pump changed and manual correction saved the day.

Public announcement:

Fuck ICE and the modern CBP. They're nothing but brutish thugs looking for an excuse to abuse people better than them for daring to be smarter, more productive, and more AMERICAN than they could ever be.

Now Puppy-killer Noem can read all about my diet and college classes.

I can wear my prom dress from 30 years ago again.

Holy shit.

Legacy media lost my respect long ago. But there's a HUGE problem across all journalistic media. It's not the kowtowing, not the lowball questions, not the "both-sides"-ism, not even the partisanship. It's this:

Nobody EVER calls out an interviewee for bullshit answers.

I sometimes forget how old I am, but then I remember there probably aren't a lot of 47-year-olds rolling up to drop their kid off at school rocking out to USAO or Extra Terra, and that might be why I get odd looks.

No tax on tips or overtime starting Jan 1st doesn't mean much when people can't afford to tip and businesses aren't scheduling overtime because they're busy cutting jobs by record numbers.

Just sayin'.

To everyone who "wouldn't vote Harris" in 2024 because they "didn't want another Washington insider in the WH," look, I get it. The fed gov't has been crap for a long time. But the idea was to elect someone who'd improve it, not use it for personal enrichment and vendettas.

Ya dolts.

Winter weather has definitely arrived. I find myself making tea just to have something to warm my hands.

In the ongoing insanity of the US in 2025, I'm finding happiness where I can.

I'm super proud of the results of this weight-loss endeavor.

Photos from 2023 and this morning. Same clothes.

What I've learned over the past 10 weeks:
It's surprisingly easy to get used to not being hungry.

I took yesterday "off" (didn't count calories), but one modest plate of food (turkey, broccoli, roasted potatoes, 2 small rolls, side salad) had me STUFFED.

Today: 583 cals, body says "that's fine."

We've lived in this house for just over two years. I bought a stud finder within the first month. Today, at long last, I finally hung towel hooks in the bathrooms.

Woo!!

UMCJ: "it is your sworn duty to know the laws laid down in the Constitution and follow them, and to NOT follow orders which defy those laws."

WH: "we don't pay you to think, we pay you to do what we say, no matter what."
Those who do not remember history are doomed to be tried by it.

186!!! That's 36 down from when I started in late September.

21 lost since my last appointment. Doc says I'm the first he's seen lose more the 2nd month.

Only 11 more to go to get to my goal!!

Tomorrow is my 2-month follow-up on this medicated diet.

Current bets for my loss this past month are 7 (son), 15 (partner), and 10 (me).

A small part of me is hoping I shock my doctor with my progress.

Still wondering what it would take to detox the poisoned kool-aid from his cultists so they wake up and realize their Dear Leader is an open criminal.

Doing something I haven't done in almost 6 years: crochet amigurumi.

Nice to know I haven't forgotten the basics.

Pretty sure a convo something like this will happen with my Dr. next week:

Dr: "I said last visit your weight loss would slow down the second month."

Me: "Yup."

Dr: "What did you do, take that as a challenge?"

Me: "um....kinda?"

Can we please, for once, NOT NORMALIZE THE OUTRIGHT INSANITY of a sitting US President publicly calling for the murder of US citizens for "reminding our military that they are legally obligated NOT to follow unlawful orders"?
Crow: "It just tells us everything that we need to know that reminding people to obey the law, reminding people to obey the Constitution, is somehow criminal in Trumpworld and should be responded to with death threats. It's very, very telling."

I can't decide how I feel about calculus. Initially I hated it, but I'm beginning to see where it can be useful; problem is, I don't see myself falling into the careers where it'd be used. So like...it's kinda cool, but not as practical as Trigonometry or pervasively useful as algebra.

37 miles walked in 5 days; my feet have decided that's plenty. Besides, it's all thunderstormy outside, which is the ideal weather for curling up under a blanket with coffee and a book.
