And here's the opening of our first Edie comic, on the first page you see inside the cover when you open the book. It would have been nice to color this, but I never got around to it. Maybe someday. 3/12
The page is laid out like a 2x3 style traditional comic book page, with the two panels on the top row joined to form an extra wide panel. Starting from top-left and going across and down, the panels are as follows: Panel 1 (extra wide): The top left of this panel has the title "My Pal Edie," with the first two words written in a fancy cursive and Edie's name in a somewhat cartoony cursive. Edie is walking into frame, towards a desk that is set in front of a door to another office. The inset office appears to be a boss's office, since the desk has one of those fancy pen holders on it. An old man rabbit is sitting behind the desk and is looking out of the doorway. Panel 2: Edie has sat down at her desk. The old man rabbit, Edie's boss, Mr Reed, is standing next to the desk, with his fingers looped under his Patagonia-styled vest like a pair of suspenders. He says: "Edie, the week I want you to train an A.I. how to do your job, so it can do it for me- I mean for you, heh." Panel 3: Edie and Mr Reed are turned towards her computer monitor, and Mr Reed is standing behind her chair. Edie says: "Wow! Is this one of those "Automatic Inconstences" I've heard so much about?" Mr Reed says: "That's "Artificial Intellgivence," and yes, it is. Try talking to it." The rat cartoon is making a broad gesture. Edie says: "That's not my na-" Rat-GPT cuts her off and says: "Alright, E.D.P.- Mr. Reed tells me he'd like me to learn your filing system so we can automate it." At the bottom of the image is a black bar with an icon on the bottom left showing that this is the first page on the inside of the cover.

Here's the next page, this is the inside of the front cover. In addition to drawing just comics of Edie and Stacy, I also wanted to make a zine that feels like an old comic book. As such, the inside of the cover has an ad on it, since that's how they usually were set up!

The scissor lift begins to retract for repositioning. Bip's avatar is flopped over the tops of the comic panels, looking frustrated. Bip: I don't have much time to wait, I've got a rapidly approaching appointment with the launch loop. Can you do it off the clock? Talita switches radio channels and turns to write something on a physical logbook with a pen attached to its ring binding. Adam dismounts the scissor lift behind her. SFX: clk Talita: Tod's gonna ask questions if I pull that too often. Adam hops up the radio tower foundation and begins to scale the ladder up to the tower's ring platforms. Bip: Is there a tool I can borrow..? Talita: Hm... actually, I might be able to replace the claws with something more— She notices Adam out of the corner of her eye. Talita: –ADAM! GET DOWN FROM THERE! Bip's avatar pokes down in front of the comic panel with an apologetic sweat drop. Bip: Wrong radio channel. Talita: God fucking dammit! Adam continues to the scale the rungs of the ladder. Then, without warning, Talita's hands clamp around his rib cage and she plucks him off the structure, putting him down on the foundation of the tower with an unceremonious THUMP. The surprise wearing off, he gets up and turns to look at her furious face. SFX: clk Talita: Do you have a deathwish⁉ Adam: It's GOT handrails! If we were using the damn things we'd be DONE by now! The other temps stare awkwardly while Adam is reprimanded on the shared radio channel. Talita: Those rails were built decades ago to support 20 kilo avians! These structures are not stable enough for you to climb! She walks away to return to the job. Adam glares daggers at her back, cheeks flushed. Later, the crew returns through the vehicle airlock. SFX: BEEP BEEP BEEP Talita vacuums the outside of her exosuit after hanging it up. SFX: VVVVVVVVVVVVV She absentmindedly tugs on her lower lip with her trunk lips as she works. To her right, Yao looks curiously at her bare antlers while putting on a pair of prosthetics resembling deer antlers.

Hobbies cost money. Nobody looks at Magic the Gathering players or Warhammer 40k players and think suspiciously wealthy gamers. It's when money is given to other people instead of corporations does the math change.

Furries have mutual enjoyment of the craft and with that comes mutual support.

This fandom has a reputation for being "suspiciously wealthy" but the truth is most furries just love and value art and people so much that they want to use their money for art and supporting artists so they can make a living doing what they love. It's a cycle of genuine passion I think.
