Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Grinding the Russian invaders to dust and forcing their retreat, or at least a ceasefire, is a positive outcome.

That's the only option you gave. If there is another better than sending more and better weapons to Ukraine and putting more economic pressure on Russia, it hasn't been seen and it's not expected to be seen any time soon.

Not really; some people in the US helped Hitler, but the official policy was isolationist, and even before US entered the war, it helped greatly the allies.

Actually, when it has been done a bit (never enough) it's worked quite well. Far better than not sending more weapons and wishing for not having given up nukes, I'd say.

They are not pretty maxed out. EU is doing far less than it could do, just as the US.

And this in theory. In practice the enforcement is weak and some roundabouts are tacitly allowed.
