Why are there so few (none?) news stories about individual ICE agents themselves? Who they are, what motivates them, any moral dilemmas they face? Why aren’t protesters trying to get some to speak out?

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

Why hang onto the #EpsteinFiles? Most of US are certain Trump, his entire Cabinet and most of the GOP are in the #EpsteinFiles. The absolute Party of Pedophiles. Inventing Wars in our cities is a cruel distraction, so is the Gestapo. #EpsteinFiles

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

Police officers who publicly declare that they’ll quit if a mayoral candidate they dislike wins the election are (1) usually bluffing—sure buddy, toss away that paycheck and pension—and (2) exactly the sort of cops cities would be better off without, ones who don’t see themselves as public servants.

Quick colored sketch of the deer Eocoileus gentryorum, bounding through a southeastern Cypress Swamp. It is known from the latest-Miocene and Pliocene of Florida and Tennessee, and is the earliest known deer in the Americas. #paleoart #cenozoic #deer #GrayFossilSite #sciart
Colored-pencil drawing of a prehistoric deer leaping in front of a simple green-and-brown background of Bald-Cypress trees. The deer is a darker shade of brown than the trees, and its antlers are small and have three prongs. Its tail is raised up, just as white-tailed deer do while fleeing.
