I don’t even know where to begin. This week in NC politics has been A LOT…
Here's what happened this week in North Carolina politics.

Some of these guys just need to be kicked out of office. 🥾
Y’all, this is such a close race! We have the opportunity to flip this seat and put a young, progressive community organizer who CARES into this seat! Donate if you can.

Also, sign up to canvass. We need to knock ALL the doors in district 3.
Early voting in Guilford County starts Thursday! Find locations and times attached. Vote early - That way, if your registration has been deactivated or is incomplete, you have time to correct it.

Our cost of living is spiraling out of control, with no clear end in sight.

There are many dimensions of our cost of living: housing, electricity, childcare, and especially, food. In the long term, they are a product of our political choices.
“I may not agree with a thing you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” Everyone should be able to express their opinions freely. And no one should have to fear being a victim of violence. My thoughts and prayers to his loved ones and for our nation.
Setting aside the substance of Charlie Kirk's opinions, his basic right to express himself freely in a liberal society is one we should all hold dear. When we lose rights like that to fear of political violence, we are all poorer for it.
Here’s your #NCPol update. You can't make this 💩 up.

Go grab some ice cream this weekend - just don't let that guy mess with it. 🍦
In our climate, this should be a requirement. People die from the heat here!!
#NCGA law requires landlords to provide tenants heat but does not explicitly make them provide AC, despite climate change causing life-threatening heat illness to keep climbing. 1/
Irving Allen has been working to better our community longer than I’ve known him, and I’ve known him for 8 years. His voice on the Greensboro City Council will speak up for ALL of Greensboro’s citizens. Please come out and support him on Monday, 8/11.
Happy birthday, America! 🇺🇸 I still believe in you. And in your promise. #LibertyAndJusticeForAll
📣📣📣 Attention friends in Columbus, Bladen, Brunswick, Cumberland, and New Hanover counties:

Give my friend Kimberly Hardy for Congress a follow and your support!!
🇺🇸NEWS: I’m running for Congress to represent SE NC: Fayetteville, Wilmington, Elizabethtown, Whiteville, and points beyond & in-between!

Why?

Because as a mom, a social worker, and an educator, I’ve seen what the current lack of leadership has meant for way too many of us. We deserve better!

for spotting the bill and @carolinaforward.bsky.social for the summary above.
Interesting postscript to this: one of the Republican sponsors of this bill is Rep. Sarah Stevens, the GOP candidate for NC State Supreme Court in 2026. 👀
* bar Attorney General @jeffjacksonnc.bsky.social from representing NC SBE in court, and allocate $1.5M of taxpayer money to pay for private Republican attorneys instead
* change campaign finance disclosure rules to require less transparency around Election Day.
House Bill 958 would:
* convert 38% of NC SBE
employees into Republican political appointees, and add 7 more
* permanently ban ranked-choice voting statewide
Introduced last night - HB 958, which should be entitled “How To Rig Elections and Disenfranchise Voters.”
📣EMERGENCY RALLY THIS WEDNESDAY

Governor Stein still has not vetoed HB318 or SB153, two dangerous anti-immigrant bills that will expand ICE’s presence in NC.

‼️Join us at the Governor’s mansion to make our voices loud and clear: ICE OUT OF NC!

@carolinaforward.bsky.social
We had a huge turnout in High Point for the #NoKings protest! Thank you everyone who stopped by the @carolinaforward.bsky.social table to see me! And thanks to our partners at @indivisiblegconc.bsky.social for organizing!
Correction: 2 Republicans voted no - Davis and Rep. William Brisson.
All @nchousedems.com and one Republican, Rep. Ted Davis, Jr.,
voted against it. They have our thanks for taking a stand for sensible gun legislation.
