Every morning, my grandmother sipped tea from her bell-metal bowl. No rush. No words. Just memory steeped in silence.

One small ritual connects generations, and #tea in #Assam carries the memory of land, loss, and love.
An offer for a second cup of tea in an #Assamese home isn’t about thirst. It’s an invitation to stay.

In my latest post, I explore the rituals, seasons, process, and spirit of Assam’s tea culture. From leaf to memory.

What are your tea rituals, wherever you are?

Bad tea isn’t always bad tea. Usually, it’s the 90-second mistake.
“We used to get candy packets thrown to us by white soldiers as they passed by in their vehicles,” my mother recalled. “Each packet was flat and slender, with candies wrapped in shiny paper. I had never seen candy like that before.”

Sometimes, history is remembered in the smallest details.
Before D-Day. Before Hiroshima. There was Assam.

A jungle road. An invisible air war. Two towns that helped change history, but were erased from it.
My favorite word in Assamese is ahisu (pronounced ahi-soo). I wrote about it in this post. Maybe it’ll stay with you the way it does with me.

A Moment from Assam

Mondays don’t rush here. The rain falls steadily, and the day starts slower. People don’t push to begin the week; they let the drizzle set the pace.
