and after the battle they’d say some cryptic thing like “Heh… that wasn’t like… weird, right? Was it cool? I always had a feeling that… well… maybe later.” and they’d leave all “Thanks, this helped a lot..!” and anyways yadda yadda they become a fairy type leader later (or fire or poison or bug or)

They may be bothered by reasons they can’t quite articulate or feel hesitant to admit, but later in the story you’d encounter them again somewhere quiet and they’d ask to battle you wanting to “try something out” and they’d use mainly normals except one oddball that’s like fairy or fire or something
