Benza Vineyards Three Tuxedos Reserve Pinot Noir 2022, Willamette Valley, Oregon Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Fruity nose of red cherries, black currants, blueberries, wild flowers, light wood, chocolates, spices and black pepper. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with black currants, cherries, light wood, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn and licorice. Long finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a delicious Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley in oregon. Nicely balanced, juicy and complex. Elegant and fruit forward. Still young, but already drinking nicely, even by itself. Very fruity right out of the bottle, and gets earthier as it opens up. Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself as a sipping wine. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. Paired nicely with the Italian salami. 100% Pinot Noir grapes were destemmed and aged in (45% new) French oak barrels for 16 months. 13.6% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $70.

During the crush of holidays that begin at Halloween and rush toward a celebration of the New Year, it can be a challenge to find time slow down and enjoy the season. A simple meal with a refreshing glass of wine on a quiet evening at home can be the perfect antidote to all that rushing around. Not that we do much rushing around, but I can confirm Dungeness crab paired with a glass of 2021 Smith-Madrone Riesling is the perfect refresh for the season.
