What follows is a version of a short thread I posted some time ago on the bad place.
I really believe it gets at something important that I've never seen discussed anywhere. It's simply this: REGARDLESS of what Republicans *say*, there's a powerful reason for them to WANT big deficits. Follow along…
Starting to suspect that many powerful men have “played along” with the campaign to release the Epstein files, thinking that when it was finally time to act, they could bury it and stall until the pressure eased.
Not an admission of guilt, but very suspicious nonetheless.

Solar and wind as a financial lifeline to Indiana farmers.

Wind leaves the vast majority of the land untouched. Solar occupies more space, but with the right practices can preserve soil for later use, or have dual use now.
Solar, wind projects offer financial stability for many Indiana farmers
GREENTOWN, Ind. — A series of wind turbines dot the southern sky in rural Central Indiana, about an hour north of Indianapolis.

The calls from America this weekend to "abolish the EU" are for one simple reason: the EU is the only thing that can keep European nation-states from becoming Russian or American vassals.
The US has declared rhetorical war on the EU
The calls from America this weekend to destroy the EU are revealing. They hate the union because it's the only thing that can keep European countries from being Russian or American vassals.

This isn't hard, folks:
If you *subsidize demand* for something, you will drive the price up.
Our current debate is virtually ALL about how, and how much, to subsidize the demand for healthcare. Effectively ZERO attention is being paid to *supply*.
And we're surprised that costs are out of control?

The killing of shipwrecked survivors at sea is a textbook violation of the laws of war.

If Hegseth is so proud of the killing of these survivors, the Pentagon should release the full video, just like they have with other boat strikes.

The American people deserve full transparency & accountability.

In the dim past of my college years, I read a book by Marxist philosopher Herbert Marcuse, presenting his idea of "repressive desublimation".
Haven't given it a moment's thought in decades, but recently it struck me that he was describing modern capitalism at work:

Some simple moral clarity. Our country is run, and our public life is dominated by, wicked people.

I wish there were a party -- or christ, just a substantial faction of Americans -- who stood up for love, compassion, & decency with the same vigor these fucking ghouls celebrate murder.

I want to hear Bill Cassidy say he regrets voting for RFK Jr. If not, I’ll assume he just regrets the political discomfort this is causing him.

How to buy yourself a needy malignant narcissist? Just offer him a phony, made up "Peace Prize" & he's all your's!!!
No need for a formal ceremony as he'll snatch from the box & put it on all by himself. Both laughably pathetic AND pathetically laughable. 🤡 🫣

I just wonder how Sen. Bill Cassidy feels now about his Yes vote for the self-proclaimed anti-vaxer, RFK Jr.?

My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

Cassidy’s “yes” to confirm RFK Jr. has to be the most impactful vote by a single senator in the 21st century, right? Only other one I can recall that comes close is McCain saving the ACA.

In the 4.5-mile bike ride to pick up my kids from school, I found the following in painted bike lanes: at least 6 trash bins, a parked car, a parked firefighter truck (likely lunch break), and a parked city maintenance vehicle. This is unacceptable, and another reason why paint is not infrastructure

If Virginia Democrats follow through with a new 10-1 congressional map and a couple of other Dem states make small changes, Trump's gambit to rig the 2026 maps will be remembered as an epic blunder.

Among the many “core principles” long touted by Republicans, which they *instantly* abandoned in obeisance to Dear Leader, was their dedication to “states’ rights”.
Was there ever a bigger bunch of hypocrites? As former GOP strategist @stuartpstevens.bsky.social confessed, It Was Always A Lie.

Every American who wore the uniform from Valley Forge to now took an oath against tyranny, making them textbook antifascists. The military's entire purpose is defending democracy from authoritarianism. Declaring antifa "domestic terrorism" means our founding principle is now a prosecutable offense.

NEW info on shipwreck attack. It gets worse.

The 2 survivors climbed atop wreckage and waved to overhead.

"Some of the people viewing the video thought ... could have been an attempt to surrender"

Others "said the most logical explanation was ... signaling for a rescue."
