If you're not a game dev, it's *really* hard to understand how easy it is to burn out from working on a game. It takes a lot of effort and conscious decisions to prevent crunch because the budgets are *always* too tight and the deadlines are *always* too short.

You know the field you're working on is in good hands when "burn out is good, actually" is just one (1) of the several unhinged public CEO takes that started discourse in 2026, which has been going on for (checks calendar) 14 days
I say this with utmost respect, but Taylor is an absolute tool for saying this privately or publicly.
I can say on good authority that it takes 7 to 10 years to develop game development skills to “good enough” to produce commercial game content. 7-10 years plus the cost of a university education.
