A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

I generally just go with a pacing method rather than core structure. Set-up > spike > repeat with the set-up also having downtime/breathing room and character interactions to develop b-plots. Most of it is building slowly toward a bigger stakes final climax. I'm also a big fan of denouement.

The problem with left-leaning media is they're intrinsically more strict with their propaganda to only using verifiable sources so it's really hard to poke holes in their ideology and arguments in comparison to a lot of low quality rightwing content.
That makes attacking their points with fact checkers not very effective unless the fact checkers use misinformation tactics as well.
In essence people on the right have to work harder and more creatively to push their agendas as statistics and studies frustratingly arent usually on our side.

Her mother needed to rest and unwind. Kyoka tried to grip and tug at the shoulder she could reach to get more direct attention, but Masuyo was quite practiced now, and unconsciously brought her other hand over to softly caress and pet Kyoka to give affection.
It felt lovely. Kyoka was distracted successfully for a beat, but she refocused as fast. No. She wouldn't fall for it this time. Just because Mama's hand felt... so... warm... NO! Focus.
It was time to try something more drastic. It wasn't really talking, but the basic phonetics Kyoka could form meant she had a trump card she'd been holding onto. Honestly, she didn't really mean to hide it, she just wanted Mama to have the proper experience as a mother, too. She didn't get much...
"Ma-ma."
Masuyo jerked and snapped her eyes to Kyoka instantly. At first, it was pure shock, and then her eyes watered powerfully as hope and excitement filled in. "Kyoka...? Did... did you call to me...? Did you call for 'mama'?" She didn't even realize she was smiling as she gently petted Kyoka's cheek.
Kyoka felt a little bad about this. It wasn't really speaking. Not yet. She could 'mm' and 'ah', so she could make it sound... passable. Still, it was clearly working for Masuyo. Kyoka nodded, and did it again. "Ma-ma."

10/11 - I have to copout and say Tolkien. We're both from Catholic backgrounds, and it informs a lot of what we do, without the compulsion to be exclusionary. If you know that, it becomes more and more obvious in all his work (and probably mine, too).

Kiseki thought more on Hasava as she left her work building. A little, reflexive smile unconsciously grew. Initially, Kiseki had been too scared to offend Kyoka or her 'general' to admit how scared she was. That faded quickly, however. Hasava had become her friend. Likely a one-sided friendship, Kiseki accepted that, but the warmth was welcome.
Hasava was diligent and patient. She listened intently. The way Hasava looked into Kiseki's eyes was so clear in memory. It was almost piercing, but the pure fixation and focus in it -- after Kiseki's life of being ignored, shunned, and avoided -- was deeply affirming and soothing.

Kyoka did flick a nervous smile in gratitude, but had to glance down to try to shove her thoughts into some semblance of order. "A-as... we were... walking home together -- j-just to the station," she was compelled to clarify for some reason, "we were making conversation. Normal stuff. It... came up that... I... um... I like girls. R-romantically..."
The quiet fear in Kyoka's eyes as they returned to Masuyo's made Masuyo's heart break for her daughter. With a smooth, gentle shift, Masuyo eased out of her chair, dropping down beside Kyoka, so she could reach up. Still petting the one arm, she also caressed Kyoka's cheek, offering a tender smile.
"It's good to understand yourself more, Kyoka. Are you worried I'll be upset that you're lesbian?" She felt her words were slightly awkward, but she wanted to be clear and open with her terms for her daughter's sake. She was supposedly the more mature, more comfortable person on such topics.
Kyoka's eyes watered as a gentle, but clearly deeply relieved smile lit her features. "I-I didn't think so, but I wasn't sure, and Seina wasn't sure either, so I... got worried..."

Probably a tie between 2 RP characters: one was a goblin obsessed with 'making friends' (violently), and the other was a sociopathic paladin that was created specifically to show why the alignment system in D&D is... not great. He was a creepy asshole of a character.
