The difference between special interests and regular interests is that one gives a sense of “heimat” to an autistic person. This is the case with my interest in math; it gave me a sense of heimat.

I haven't studied much AT, but definitely avoid Hatcher. I have read Hatcher, and it is what I call "verbal diarrhea". It places intuition and non-rigorous details at such high point that it is not very concise. See this thread: www.reddit.com/r/math/comme...
