If it was only just an occasional blown assignment, maybe ok. But it’s the same repetitive issue no matter what is the coverage call that’s grinding my gears. As soon as the QB starts to escape the pocket, he stops covering his guy as if NFL QBs don’t find wide open guys and hit them on the move.

Metchie has been solid as a quasi big slot, backfield type. I would expand upon that. We are better off with him than a non-Goedert TE. Rpo, RO, Pony, a little GO GO. Cheap manufactured yards.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I don’t need it to totally look pro style so long as it can score points and is somewhat balanced. But with qb run and RPO both barely in the offense, it makes u wonder what they are doing.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Like were they punishing him for something? My goodness. Glad he didn’t get hurt.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I’m still wondering what Smitty’s purpose is on this play.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I noticed a couple times earlier in the season them smartly using AJ to decoy a TE open for an easy completion. So yeah I think that’s what this was.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
I could be wrong. But that felt like a feeble pre planned attempt to get Barkley a TD in New York.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
It’s more than one thing. I do think one part of it that everyone is missing is that AJ is just good and no longer a cheat code that deodorizes the offense. Maybe it will come back when more healthy. Maybe it won’t.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Jalen has always been a little gunshy. That won’t change a ton.

Like Wentz, giving in too much to a QB’s tendencies before they earned it has undesirable effects.

It’s a tight rope walk balancing the QB w/what has to change. Kellen walked the tight rope. Siri/Patullo can’t.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Heck no. Just another hawt take.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
They don’t invoke that rule in our district until 10 sick absences for the school year.

If it’s every time, that’s absolutely ridiculous.

94 should be 1st step vertical and if reached use LG momentum to park him in A gap

13 should be 4 or thick 5t

since double TE, a DB needs to take on fullback

Baun needs to track backside hip of RB

If Vic can't coach condensed fronts outside of short yardage, then he should stop calling them.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Condensed fronts were not working vs the run last half of the 4th as Giants ran out clock. Part of the problem was also Byron Young on these.

Volume up. 1st snap

Patullo should:

-Be a great cover band replaying hits from ‘22

-google a few passing concepts vs zone

-beg Nick to shave his head and go away to CEO something

-meet me, @chocomil.bsky.social, @denizselman33.bsky.social, @fduffy.bsky.social in a consultation session to fix run game.

Simple!!!

Not disagreeing that he has a hand in the O and is partly what is wrong with it. He has limitations as a pocket passer. And he likely has a lot of say.

But there aren’t 5 QBs in the NFL right now I’d rather build an O around. So that should tell you what I think of the offensive brain trust.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
He’s not perfect. It seems like when we have a good OC, that he’s pretty darn good. This would not be a major issue if Nick was gone after ‘23 or if they hired a good OC this year. The Hurts haters are all crawling out now.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Did he at least shave his head this time?
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Just watched it. He's still not what he once was. He's very good, but not all-world. In his mind he is still all-world. Not sure the situation is fixable. He started his nonsense when they were 4-0. If the O starts humming (which is doubtful), maybe he will stay quiet enough till offseason.

I’ve been in some places where I worked my ass off and made a big difference. And not everyone loved me. It’s human nature. There’s a lot of selfish people. And there’s plenty who think they have answers when they don’t. I’m sure Hurts can be better. I’m also sure the inmates can’t run the asylum.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Towards the end Baldy and Gargano both mention they hear not everyone is happy w Jalen. Personally for me, that’s not exactly a news flash. When guys aren’t getting to eat, and the O is iffy, and Hurts is not exactly Peyton in the pocket, not everyone will be happy.

I watched some of his tape from last year and you could tell he got old. Haven’t seen him this year but I’m leaning no. So many other teams make their outside corners play more like zone defenders than the eagles. He might get roasted at CB with Vic.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Then, if he’s a Primadonna also, maybe it’s easier to just manage one than two.
I wouldn’t be shopping AJ if I’m Howie, but I might listen to some offers and pretend to be reluctant to move him.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
He was def slowed down most of the season so far. And as a result Smitty passed him in my mind. He did look more spry vs giants so maybe he’s almost all the way back now. Haven’t watched that part of the all-22 yet. He’s not going to get the Rams backup corners every game.
