Resistance to the Trump regime needs to ramp up in frequency, intensity, and impact or we all lose. We are seeing mass capitulation on the part of corporations and other institutions nationwide because they haven't seen resistance as a viable threat to the consolidating right-wing dictatorship. 🧵

DHS is making social media content out of their state terror. This is sick.

here’s more context to the videos DHS is putting out from Chicago.

Any apologies offered were only after they were caught - there’s zero reason to believe they were made in good faith.

The chat, called “RESTOREYR WAR ROOM,” contained leaders of Young Republicans groups across the country. Pejoratives like the homophobic f-slur, the n-word, and the r-word appeared more than 251 times combined. trib.al/gV6V1eY

Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, and DHS need to answer for their unchecked attacks on Chicago residents.

ICE is an out-of-control danger to our peaceful communities.

The images from the Sun-Times today speak for themselves.
An ICE agent throws a tear gas canister at protesters at East 105th Street and South Avenue N in East Side.

Literally nothing coming from the Pentagon, DHS, or DOJ should be considered credible unless backed up by an independent source outside of government. (This, for the record, is a huge problem!)

The GOP Can’t Escape Its Growing Failures and Scandals

An unraveling Pete Kegseth, a GOP government shutdown, the Epstein Files, and absurdly racist Telegram messages --- MAGA's fascist machine has fissures, and the majority must exploit them.

This is pretty sick stuff and clearly what they really think as they thought this would stay private.
pfinns.bsky.social
So tell me one more time how calling the Republican Party a fascist movement is “polarizing language”… 😒

Another important point is that the regime lies so routinely to the public that their account of whatever incident(s) occur cannot be taken at face value. And reprinting statements and press releases is not journalism.
pfinns.bsky.social
Extremely important point. The bile spewing from Miller, Trump, and their supporters make their bloodthirstiness crystal clear. They are desperate to invoke the Insurrection Act and will manufacture a pretext to do so eventually.

What happens next is on them.

I'm not afraid. Come and get me, Donald.

I will stand up for the law and the Constitution. That’s what we do in the State of Illinois.

Which is precisely why Trump intends to militarize the country. I don't believe that there will be free & fair elections in 2026 if Trump can help it. This is why the nonviolent resistance movement must achieve critical scale and intensity before then. Here's hoping.

We have to understand how it's not just Trump, but the entire Republican Party as an institution that is violent-minded and deeply autocratic. There will be no meaningful congressional restraint on Trump's behavior as long as there's a Republican majority.

Transcript: MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—Exposing Trump as Weak
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA deconstructs these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why they should prompt more to turn out against an obviously fearf...

Republican congresspeople and Senators appear to be falling over themselves to characterize the Oct. 18 No Kings protestors as terrorists who "hate America." It's easy to read between the lines: this is to create a rhetorical permission structure for the violent suppression of Trump's opposition. 🧵

How W. E. B. Du Bois responded to government policing of "anti-American" sentiment during the 1910s:

"I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, 'We are seeking to have the Constitution of the United States thoroughly and completely enforced.' ”
Federal agents invaded even the offices of The Crisis and the National Association for the advancement of colored people and asked searching questions: " just what, after all, were our objects and activities?” I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, “We are seeking to have the constitution of the United states thoroughly and completely enforced.” It took some ingenuity, even for Southerners, to make treason out of that.

47’s allies are raging over the Oct 18 "No Kings” protests. The unanimity of messaging ("terrorists") means it’s almost certainly coordinated by Stephen Miller. Yet it’s backfiring: Dems & rally organizers are using it to galvanize attendance, which will likely succeed.

@timothysnyder.bsky.social warns us that the White House is trying to organize a moral panic about "antifa."

Don't buy into the panic. It's just more right-wing lies. Journalists have a duty to the truth, not merely to parrot press releases and soundbites.
