I definitely didn't take enough pictures of my little event today, but that was mostly because I was running on pure anxiety to make sure it went to plan. Totally worth the effort.

PSA were really ahead of the curve on EVs. They even created a 205 electric prototype which would become their base for the 106 Electrique. Tempted to try and build one of these one day, but with Ni-MH instead.

Is this what US people think Peugeot's lineup is through history? (Cardle US options)

To be fair, it's similar with me and some US bound cars, but sheesh! Some worldwide legends are really missing.

Not having a Peugeot 205 is like not having heard of a Ford Mustang outside of the US.

The Visa GTi used the 105bhp (later 115bhp) engine from the Peugeot 205 GTi, with the car's chassis and suspension tweaked for the purpose. The Visa's tall, slightly odd looks took surprisingly well to the sporting treatment, with the quad headlamps marking it out from lesser models.

At its 1978 launch the quirky Citroën Visa seemed to capture a little of the spirit of a modern-day 2CV, particularly the determinedly minimalist 652cc version. The original late '70s designers could hardly have imagined the bespoilered Visa 1.6 GTi, seen in its 1985 UK launch brochure. #weirdcarbs

In 1985, Peugeot built a number of 205 Électrique prototypes to show off its electric technology. It used twelve 6V batteries with new nickel-iron technology. It had a claimed range of 124 miles at 25mph, dropping to 85 miles at 48mph. The tech would involve into the production 106 Électrique.

Early Peugeot M24 proposal by Pininfarina which was rejected. The 205’s final design was an in-house one decided upon in 1979 and signed off early the following year.

Note the door handles from the 305.

August 1st used to be a massive day for British car dealers: the moment when the annual registration plate change happened.
