So my hyperfixation as of this week- networking!

Also added a wee bit of automation to make the host->spawnclient-> connect to host -> make the client small and tiled properly be much smoother

having an animated console log does wonders for making me want to actually write useful messages.

Modern single threaded perf has gotten so fast its kinda mindblowing.

These particles are updating gravity, acceleration, lifetimes, doing the laziest implementation i could think of.

Is it practical? ehh probably not.

So I've started to make a particle system..

Should really code for fun more often

physics is back in the new renderer. All thats left is bringing animations and UI back online. and I daresay i might be ready to start making a game

Having a hex view of various camera data while moving around really makes me hackerman.

I always try to do something cool for AutismAcceptanceMonth. This year, my autistic pals and I secretly made a videogame - and it's out NOW!

It's part of a Pay What You Want charity bundle we've organised to raise money for the Autistic Women & Nonbinary Network. Pls share!

new sdl3 renderer now has debug draws!

After nearly two years of playing with my toy engine I have implemented most things needed to make a game.

But I still haven't looked past chapter 1 of Real time rendering and done anything more complex in terms of rendering than just color to screen.

Oh also new renderer with SDL3 gpu.

Attempted this 3 times but settled on an api I can stick with.

Video shows animations on the player controller with the old system snapping between animations and the new system which smoothly blends between

This is a custom game engine written in zig

Sometimes I wonder what's the end game of all this automation and AI.

(Assuming it works) We could all get food and housing and live a life.

Or... it's ends up with elon musk playing factorio while the rest of us are playing as the bugs.

(And his copper to iron ratio would probably be shit.)

Difficult as in hard to solve? or difficult as in a boatload of work?

For hard to solve:
1. See how other people solve similar problems
2. Shelve it for later but keep thinking about it
3. Ask does it really need to be done?
4. Call up my boys (beg for help T_T )
5. Grind at it for months on end

So I did global game jam recently some things i saw:

1. unreal's become quite heavy and difficult to use on laptops
2. godot was reaally popular this year and made some of the highest quality stuff
3. some dude brought a 3d printer and did a full on hardware project in the span of 48 hours.
