Naturally, I included a complete transcript of the protestor's diatribe, which I had recorded on my dictaphone, and used it as an example of the wild - and unsupported - claims against gaming by fundamentalist groups.

I wish I had said something at the time, but this was nonetheless satisfying...

Ten years later, I was invited by Rosie Garland and Dr Ian Lamond to contribute a peer-reviewed chapter about the psychological benefits of role-playing games to their academic journal Deviant Leisure and Events of Defiance: A Transgressive Compendium.

Thirteen years ago today, I attended Sir Ian Livingstone's Life is a Game talk at Sheffield's Off the Shelf literature festival.

Midway through, a protestor ranted how gamers are overly-aggressive dumbed-down consumers who have been desensitised to the saturation of violence and sexualisation.

#Bloodlines was a great recreation of Vampire: The Masquerade as a video game and the sequel looks like its captures the mood and atmosphere of the original gothic-punk role-playing game.

I cannot wait to explore more of the World of Darkness.
