I’m aiming to win a Pulitzer Prize and then join the E. Street Band.

After taking a short-term contract from the #Mets last winter, Pete Alonso is aiming for a seven-year pact in his return to free agency:

Better tip: don’t be dumb enough to ask a baseball writer who covers an AL East team if he knew Toronto won two World Series. You were the tool asking for it.

Of course. Any decent baseball fan would. Plus I’ve been to Rogers Centre about 150 times for games. The titles are celebrated there. Have a good night.

You honestly don’t know if the Dodgers have?
peteabeglobe.bsky.social
Has about the Blue Jays, Brewers, and Mariners in the final four? Can’t imagine anybody had that back in March.

And the Brewers have home field in the NLCS against the Dodgers.

Guess Sal Frelick made a good choice to focus on baseball at BC.

Ron Darling is really good on these games.

The idea the Yankees are playing for mediocrity is factually incorrect if you look at their payrolls. It’s also just silly. Take care.

The last few years when I saw him in SD I'd ask how he was doing and it was some sort of rehabbing and trying to stay positive. He made $50M+ in his career, so credit to him for staying with it.

I never root for teams in baseball, just people. Glad to see him doing well.

(2/2) Finally came together with the Cubs this year. 2.17 ERA in 57 games, 5 perfect innings in the postseason and he'll be the opener tonight against Milwaukee.

Good for him to keep persevering. Enjoyed covering him when he was with the Sox from 2016-18. Tonight will be an interesting game.

(1/2) Former Red Sox lefty Drew Pomeranz didn't pitch in the majors from 2022-24 because of injuries and/or poor performance.

The Angels, Dodgers, Giants, and Mariners gave him looks in spring training or AAA and he didn't pitch well. At 36, maybe he was done.

They made the playoffs 10 times from 2003-2018, 63 percent of the time.

The Yankees have made it all but five times since 1996. Dodgers 13 times in a row. Houston 9 of 11.

The Sox are not the little engine that could. Fans should expect making the postseason at the very least.

Mayer has to first stay on the field. They you figure out where he plays.

The overall point is that they can sign whoever they like. But ownership has somehow convinced a segment of the fan base that they can't spend too much. It's ridiculous.
peteabeglobe.bsky.social
You’re really asking why somebody who covers baseball is watching a playoff game?
peteabeglobe.bsky.social
Jays and Mariners should wear 1977 throwbacks for Game 1 of the ALCS.

Tigers cool as can be turning that double play. What a fantastic game.

You mean bunting for hits? There were 153 bunt hits in the entire American League last season. The Sox had 5.

I do not see them changing their philosophy to starting bunting for hits. They were 3rd in the AL in runs last season and 3rd jn OBP. Their on-base is fine.

Sorry to hear about the passing of long-time radio reporter Craig Heist, a regular in the press boxes at Camden Yards and Nationals Park.

Craig sat near the visiting writers in Baltimore. Such a nice guy. Always seemed happy to be at the ballpark. Condolences to his family.

Fits Fenway Park well is not "the next Ted Williams." And if you really can't grasp he was hitting well until he got hurt not sure what to say.

Troll elsewhere. This is tired,

Counting on a free-swinger to suddenly become a contact hitter or a player who has had two major injuries to play all season and produce isn't a plan, it's wishing.
