For me two things stood out at the beginning of that movement. One of those things was Limp Bizkit putting Method Man on N 2 Geather Now (99’). Once that happen, a lot of ears perked up like, “ Ok, this ish kind of go hard.”

To me that made a lot of folks open to hear music they weren’t used to.

No doubt, you absolutely right. Loud Rocks and Chocolate Starfish was around 2000. Then you started to see other Rock/Hip Hop artist collaborations follow and the masses vibing to it. By time Jay Z/Linkin Park did collision course, folks around thw way were already vibing to certain rock songs.

Fo sho my guy. During that time period, I don’t care if you was strictly hip hop and R&B - bands like Nickleback, 3 Doors Down, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, etc. - found a way to your ear and had you moving your head like Jigga man.
