I knew there were some animals we call badgers that are more closely related to skunks, but I didn’t realize just how broad the group of animals we call “badgers” is. The American badger is not very closely related to European badgers, and is also the most basal species of mustelid.

Phylogeny is my favorite subject because it’s like an adventure game where I’m always finding or re-finding new things even in areas I thought I knew like the back of my hand. Today I learned mustelid badgers are a fully polyphyletic grouping distributed across 4 subfamilies.

Haha I know!! There was one dude really taking advantage of it too… he was trying to get in with all the popular MLP artists so he commissioned over 200 of those $1 bouncy pixel gifs. I was just grateful because it paid for a plane ticket to see my long distance gf.

Nice!! I don’t blame you for pursuing that with intention, very satisfying set of traits. All my main characters tend to be informal shapeshifters or at least have a few context-dependent options. One of Pel’s forms is ferrin!

For the three that are released, the only difference is what terrain you start with, and the “special” character unique to each shell. Which you can only get if you connect with both the other two
