I could (genuinally) do a whole piece on how the first Doctors stint is about Britian coming to terms with loss of empire and finding it's place in the world again. (With 2 being an actual rejection of Edwardian norms).

Newman got the idea of regenerating after seeing his niece on an Etch a Sketch. He made a deal with the makers; every doctor regeneration has been to sublimely boost sales of the toy. During the 90s the company paid Toy Story to feature the product. Since New Who Eatch hasn't been in the sequels.

The reason the Doctor keeps fighting for the universe is because Ian stopped him killing the unconscious Za in An Unearthly Child. The Doctor realised that a primitive like Ian had a stronger moral compas than he did, abs was ashamed. It's also why the Dictor feels such an affinity for Earth.

I see only Terry Coldwell remains from the original group.

I guess the others didn't want to Stay Now.

Some are born to hummus, some achieve hummus, and some have hummus thrust upon them.

Comedians who will do a gig for Amnesty International and then in their same lifetime comedy-wash Saudi Arabia are contemptible. Of course I'm not surprised by some, others I am utterly disgusted by. I'm not angry, I'm disappointed. Fuck that, I'm angry and disappointed alongside Saudi women.

I'm not saying putting the boardgame away propperly at the end is the best bit, but I'm not *not* saying that either.

To be a boardgamer is to know that, for most games you enjoy, you'll often spend a quarter of the cost again on hundreds of bits of clear plastic.

I don't know where this revisionism has come from about the suffragettes - people saying "if the suffragettes were around today, they'd be considered terrorists."

The suffragettes were arrested and tortured, sexually assaulted and beaten by the state. They *were* considered terrorists!

Had a great weekend hanging out with a load of second world war hardware. Getting involved with the We Have Ways of Making You Talk community, started by @almurray.bsky.social and Jane's Holland, is one of the best choices I've made.
Me, in a hat, looking smug, leaning on a Sherman tank.

For the record.

My posts were not even about Kirk directly, but about America's apathy towards political violence, and the coddling of white male shooters and hate peddlers.

I was fired because I mentioned race: white men and violence-- that was my "gross misconduct."

Well said.

One can find a person's views loathsome, their actions reprehensible, and despise pretty much everything they stand for, but still believe *killing* them is unconscionable.
