The Arcane Agenda isn't a miracle. It's a curse.

Here's a (somewhat arbitrary) tier list of the characters from Arcane S1 based on how well-written I think they are--a tier list that always remains fixed and totally never changes after each viewing. By the way, there are no bad characters in this show.

We must spread the Arcane Agenda to Bluesky.

They should make a Lego 12 Angry Men set. Fuck it why not
Myself and @hippocritical.bsky.social have exposed @sheevtalks.bsky.social to the Anora Agenda. I'm sure he'll love the discourse too.
He's that much of a legend.

For anyone who is upset with Anthony Mackie:
Invincible S3 was pretty darn good.
Overall, I thought this was excellent and would love to revisit it. I definitely get the vibe that I'll uncover more to praise about its story.

And, as a bonus, I saw YMS' review where he gave the film a 4/10. It's shit.
I can't lie: I'm bewildered by the Isabella Rossellini nomination.

The production design and cinematography are fantastic and the sound mixing is very good for the most part. I like the score but I agree that it's obnoxiously loud in the mix at points -- mainly during the first hour.
Conclave was the Best Picture nominee that I was most excited to see and I was not disappointed. This movie is awesome.

The screenplay is fantastic, full of thematically rich dialogue that's enhanced by terrific performances, especially from Ralph Fiennes, who's very understated. Though...
the plot demanded it -- but nothing too serious.

Again, this is a good-to-solid film but definitely not worthy of a Best Picture nomination, like most musician biopics.

Maestro was better (maybe).
this wasn't even his best performance from last year.

I'm also not on board with the screenplay nomination: a lot of it was just the songs which led to some pacing issues; the characters are a bit limited; and there were quite a few instances of characters happening upon each other when...
The performances are generally good, but I hesitate to say that any of them were Oscar-worthy (maybe except for Barbaro).

To be clear, Timothée Chalamet is good in this movie and it is cool that he actually sung the songs, but I'm disappointed that he was a front runner for Best Actor when...
Mangold's direction is as solid as usual, and this extends to the sound and costume design... but that's all I can really say: it's all solid.

None of the technical elements stand out as being Oscar-worthy, especially when you compare them to other films that came out in 2024, like Dune: Part Two.
I've just seen A Complete Unknown and I think it's pretty good.

As far as musician biopics go, it could have been a lot worse. In the end, it's a straightforward character study about a man who wanted to secure a legacy that would reach beyond and change the art movement he was attached to.

From what I'm hearing, Daredevil: Born Again is a trainwreck.

Frankly, this doesn't surprise me.
Is this all a part of some grand scheme from Matt Reeves to make a Batman Beyond movie?
To think that this list could have started with Emilia Pérez and ended with Crash.
When you're being nominated for acting as a lead role in this (allegedly) progressive film which is (allegedly) giving a narrative for underrepresented groups, it's kind of impossible to square that away with the fact that you yourself are a massive bigot.
After Gascón was nominated for Best Actress, she claimed that a lot of the criticism being driven towards her nomination was caused by fellow nominee Fernanda Torres' campaign team. Brazil then fired back by uncovering several recent tweets from Gascón revealing that she's a horrible person.

Demi Moore losing to Mikey Madison should be a post-credits scene to The Substance.
