The amount of AI generated art in slides at this conference, primarily used by older scientists, is killing me. Scientists please. Don’t use these ai platforms to make your figures or slides. They look bad and I have yet to see them meaningfully improve the message of talks.

For over a century, chemists have made flavor molecules to evoke particular tastes. How do they know which compounds create a particular flavor, and how do they make these molecules? cen.acs.org/food/food-sc...

“When women stepped outside their prescribed roles, they became targets. Too much wealth might reflect sinful gains. Too little money demonstrated bad character. Too many children could indicate a deal with a devil. Having too few children was suspicious, too.”

Having taken many shelter pup pics, they’re definitely so much better at the dog’s level. But, depending on personality some dogs immediately come to you (and lick your face) when you kneel down! posing them can be an art form lol.

Blue jays are not truly blue, they just look that way. 🪶🧪

Most colors in nature come from pigments that absorb and reflect light, but a blue jay creates its color through structural tricks: microscopic layers and air pockets that scatter blue light back to our eyes.
My understanding (which may be incorrect and is likely naive) is that SOTL is moreso a scholarly approach to the practice of education (evaluating activities, techniques, etc in context) whereas DBER is generalizable research on how folks learn and other more fundamental aspects of education.
PS—the position can be hosted in Chemistry, Biology, or both depending on the candidate’s background and preference!
We are searching for a tenure track assistant professor with research interest in mass spectrometry-based proteomics!

Happy birthday! Cake sounds lovely; lemon is a great flavor!
Had some free time before an appointment today in Tupelo, so we explored the Natchez Trace and the birthplace of Elvis.
