Having fun crafting/sewing. In my 9 to 5, working my tail off just like everyone. Hope for a better tomorrow but work hard to make it happen.

Week 3 challenge. Woven Chevron

The angel fold is easy and makes for a great looking pattern on the ornament. I went with a little less bling on this one, wanted to let the pattern shine.

Did a leg swap this morning. 1 of the shoes / socks were fraying. When I removed the leg I tore the fabric on the body so did a quick interfacing fix. Mom must of used a short stitch - 2 or 2.5. Made it challenging to pull the stitches out.

Now to work on the clothes for the 5 dolls.

This is going to take some practice.

First two attempts.

Using fabric markers by Artistro

I’m thankful that I purchased this bolt of muslin back in the early 2000’s.

Made lots of toys and clothes with this fabric and I’ll hopefully get many more out of it.

Pulled this out tonight to try my hand at painting Raggedy Ann faces. We will see how this goes.

Took folks advice and I cut the dress out per the pattern. I noticed on the dresses my mom precut she marked the hems, pleats and elastic placement. Example picture 2.

This is one complicated dress. Haha
But I’m determined to finish them all.

Ok, that is a huge seam line. A waste. At least I think so.

That is a lot of yardage for the piece. 25.5 inches, almost a full yard and you don’t use the full width. If I use a normal cut for the hem I might be able to fold the fabric differently.

We will see how this goes.

Spent some time this evening going through the Raggedy Ann & Andy patterns and cut clothes my mom left me. They were all mixed up. There are are several patterns of each size in the folders. 10 - 36 inches. A whole bunch of the 25 inche bodies cut out and with finished faces.

💙✂️🧵✂️💙
Added the final border. I’ll get this sent off to the long arm service and then the fun part - binding. lol

Size: 63x79

Made a change on a prior ornament. The bow just didn’t fit and really needed to go. Re-did to make the outer ruffle resemble a wreath. I like the change.
Before is the last pic.

Week 2 of the ornament challenge completed. I altered the layout to make a poinsettia.
Pattern: Bloom (modified) by The Ornament Girl.

Working on a new ornament.

Pattern is Bloom by Ornament Girl. This is the first row completed, 2 more to go.

But I have an idea for a minor change. (which could get me in trouble. lol)

Have a sewtastic evening!

Pics 1 & 2, the Dawn soap worked like a charm. Pics 3 & 4 are the before.

During my commute to the office is when I do the hair. A great way to spend the 1.5 hours on the train.

Have a sewtastic evening!

Finished the hair on #4. I was going to start the 5th one but noticed it has a bit of staining. The stain the top would get covered with hair but there are several small stains on the face. I’m pointing to the larger one in the 3rd pic.

🤷🏻‍♂️
Had this wreath fabric in my stash I thought it would be great on an ornament.

This is on a 4 inch half hemi, the ruffle fold fits perfect around the edge. The back side is cover with flutter folds.

3rd finished and 1 more to go. I did find several in various stages. I’ll try to finish putting those bodies together and then add hair.

These have been sitting in my stash since the summer of 2000 when my mom gave me most things in her sewing stash. I figured it’s about time they get finished.
One more and then it’s off to make dinner.
I’m trying to get a jump on Christmas presents for friends.

Have a sewtastic evening!
So last night I had an idea - TV ornament/shelf sitter. Took a couple attempts. I based the TV off of the ones from the early 70’s. Remember those dang rabbit ears that really never worked? Eventually you added tinfoil and they got bent over time. They had 2 knobs, channel and volume.

This is becoming a favorite pattern - Blossom Basket by The Ornament Girl.
I put a holiday spin on this one.

4 inch half hemi
Red/green fabric - Kona Sheen
White - tone on tone white snowflakes from Joann’s

A couple of pictures to explain what I meant by 1/2 inch increments.

I’m measuring 1/2 inch from the center and will continue that with all red pieces. The green will follow the same distance from the red points.

You could use almost any increment, it will create a different visual.

☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️
Side one completed. I like these colors together, at first I wasn’t sure. This is the basic star pattern. Using different measurements can produce a different view. I went with 1/2 inch increments.

And I goofed on the dates. The ornament challenge starts next week. Oops! 🤷🏻‍♂️

The 12 week ornament challenge started this week. I’m in an ornament group and they have different challenges throughout the year.

The fabrics I selected for this year.
Gold/Red/Green
All with hints of metallic accents.

This week’s challenge is the basic star pattern.

Finished another head of yarn for raggedy Ann.
Small issue, 1 of the sock fabric is fraying, beyond repair.
For something over 25 years old it held up well. I have 4 other bodies, 1 has a weird head so I’ll take the legs from it & replace the frayed one.

Have a sewtastic evening.

The fabric is all out, re-folded and sorted. What a nice accomplishment. Started back in mid August.

I have a table for ornament prep in the fabric room. 💜

Now I can focus on sewing/crafting and finish up several projects waiting on the back burner.

Have a sewtastic evening!!

I did find all my mom’s doll patterns, partially cut out doll bodies and clothes. Towards the end she focused on raggedy Ann and it shows. The number of dresses and bodies cut out is amazing.

It will be a challenge to get these together, some of these fabrics/patterns are from 1974.

💙🪡☀️✂️🧵✂️☀️🪡💙
Refill should be re-fold. Dang autocorrect.
