It's going to be incredible when World Cup travelers from developed nations with modern infrastructure, like Korea and Colombia and China and Turkey, land in Los Angeles/LAX and realize they've left civilization and it's not possible for them to arrive anywhere in less than two hours.

NEW— DC Metropolitan Police just shared a tiny bit more body cam footage from the March US Institute of Peace raid in response to my FOIA lawsuit w/ @rcfp.org

One clip shows USIP President George Moose being escorted out.

Moose: You know we're gonna see you all in court.
MPD: Yea we figured that.

Statehood for D.C. is an ethical obligation at this point, required to protect the rights of our residents to govern ourselves against such out-of-state troops being sent to patrol our city.
NEW: Republican-led states, in a new filing at the D.C. Circuit, say D.C. residents are irrelevant, D.C. belongs to everyone else. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The filing is led by the South Carolina and West Virginia attorneys general. Both states sent troops to DC.

One thing that struck me immediately upon my return to DC is that in Sao Paulo, a city of 22m people and a metro system that carries at 4.5m on the subways alone, I didn't see one single AI ad there. On WMATA? Almost every ad is about AI.
"In a very short timeframe, AI has become the high-fructose corn syrup of the digital realm: It’s now in everything, even if you don’t want it there." www.sfgate.com/tech/article...

The sad but predictable irony that a man screaming loudest about traffic calming measures later kills a pedestrian with his dangerous driving. This story could be written in DC, where we cater transportation policy to the loudest screaming drivers.

U.S. officials adopted Europe's Vision Zero initiative, but many cities have seen an increase in pedestrian fatalities despite efforts to improve road safety.
