In honour of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand.

Massage therapist: "Forgot to mention thrombus."

"There's a lavender blight."

"Rash with yellow crust."

"Valentine's day special".

"Your latest appointment, please."

I have a couple, depending on which hat I wear.

“Type specimen: unknown, Europe.”

“Polymerase shouldn’t be *warm.*”

“Another feet first ascent?!”

You know, people roll their eyes when I tell them I join every single class-action suit I'm eligible for, but I just got $400 and change from one of them. Just saying.

I'm so so sorry. Hugs.

I loved every word of this sweet story, and I wish I could have had such elder women in my life. Do yourself a favor and read it.

Back from my family trip to tell you that I have a new story in @kaleidotrope.bsky.social ! "What a Big Heart You Have" is my tender tribute to Grandma and Aunt Ellen, though the characters aren't literally them. kaleidotrope.net/autumn-2025/...

Both upstate NY and central NC feel right to me (the places I've lived the longest), as do northwest NJ, the SF Bay area, central MA, and RI.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

Co-signed. I made the switch for all my book purchases and haven't looked back. Help your local indie bookshops and get something great to read from these guys!

What a lovely message from @bookshop.org. Glad to see them growing and growing. We CAN claim back what has been taken from us by these monstrous corporations, and it starts with things like this. Grab some books these next couple days!

I just had the absolute joy of cancelling my COBRA coverage as of the end of October, because I'm finally eligible for Medicare. My premium will be about *half* of what I've been paying, which makes no sense from an actuarial standpoint. But I'm not complaining. #medicareforall #universalhealthcare

I'm now going to be singing that song for the next 3 days, and I thank you. 😊
