Listening to the latest @passportirish.bsky.social on Cromwell and the description of Drogheda, and thinking that at least some of those involved likely got slaughtered in Hugh Dubh O’Neill’s killing field at Clonmel.

I was first told about Clonmel by a tour guide in Cahir castle. Unforgettable.

@passportirish.bsky.social Just finished your latest episode & debrief, this Conquest mini-series is excellently researched. Incredibly compassionate and person-centred approach to a miserable topic, thank you for this education 🫶

I listened to the @passportirish.bsky.social episode on Cromwell this morning, and a couple thoughts struck me.

1) Genocide is about real estate.

2) Being the victim of a genocide does nothing to prevent you from becoming a participant in a genocide.

"There is a hidden, unspoken assumption that European immigrants were always legal... that is a really wrong association in the first place. Undocumented immigration has always involved European immigration."

For the poll 5,018 voters were asked ghost they voted when leaving 200 polling stations around Ireland, in a joint effort by The Irish Times, RTÉ, TG4 and the Department of Political Science at Trinity College Dublin
The exit poll suggests an extremely tight result with Sinn Féin on 21.1%, Fine Gael 21%, and Fianna Fáil on 19.5%
If borne out FG and FF may return in another coalition government, with SF the largest party but without a clear way to building a majority in the Dáil
